This week, I met with @NASA Astronauts @AstroHague, a Kansas native, and @AstroAnnimal. Both recently served as flight engineers on expeditions to the @Space_Station. It was great to hear about their mission and discuss their future plans with #NASA!
@AstroHague presented me with a Kansas flag that was flown by him at the @Space_Station. Excited to display the flag in my office and share this with the many Kansans who visit my office each day!
Over the past couple weeks, I have had a number of conversations with the CEO of Spirit AeroSystems and both the incoming CEO at Boeing and the FAA Administrator to determine a resolution regarding 737 MAX production.
The layoffs announced today at Spirit AeroSystems has dealt a harsh blow to our community, but I know Kansans are resilient and that Wichita is home to several world-class aviation companies that are continually innovating and creating new opportunities in the area.
Wichita would not be the Air Capital of the World without the extraordinary engineers, designers and manufacturers who have invested in our aviation industry and made Wichita their home.
