  • 1). During the 2nd quarter of 2013, UMDNJ continued its advocacy on sequestration by educating Members of Congress and congressional staffs about the damaging financial impact of sequestration on medcal research and clinical care. 2). Regarding the Administration's FY 2014 budget proposals, advocated for congressional support for adequate appropriation support for Federal programs important to UMDNJ. These programs include the NIH, NSF, HRSA, CDC and many others whichsupport research and clinical initiatives at the University.
  • Advocated for passage of congressional legislation which would expand the current cap on the number of Medicare supported training slots for doctors to help address the nation's and New Jersey's projected shortage of physicians.
  • 1). Advocated for congressional legislation, "Medicare Access to Radiology Care Act," H.R. 1148, which would allow facilities to bill Medicare for medical imaging services performed by qualified radiologist assistants under the direction of a supervising radiologist. Secured Congressgman Pascrell to be an original sponsor of the legislation. The legislation is of interest to the UMDNJ-School of Health Related Professions, Radiologist Assistants Program.2). Advocated for congressional legislation, H.R., 669 and S. 314 "Sudden Unexpected Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act." The legislation is of interest to SIDS Center of NJ, located at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Hackensack University Medical Center.
