  • Support on behalf of client H.R. 1586 and S. 796, both entitled The Forest Protection and Wildland Firefighter Safety Act 2023, are companion bills that would provide further specificity in current statute that exempt aerially applied fire retardant from needing a permit under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) under the Clean Water Act. Support on behalf of client S. 1939 FAA Reauthorization Act of 2023 and HR 3935 FAA Reauthorization Act (also known as Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act) to a) ensure the FAA administrator is the sole office of jurisdiction for the regulation of safety and maintenance for restricted category aircraft engaged in aerial firefighting and b) to ensure restricted category aircraft may, if enacted in law, carry firefighters as part of their aerial firefighting mission. Oppose USFS action regarding requirement of former military aircraft to continue implementing military safety notices that do not pertain to former military aircraft, which even the US Military insists is not required. Worked with client while US Army and USFS initiated MOU regarding military messages pertaining to restricted category aircraft.
