Response of Greg Walden (R-Ore.)

SEE MORE ABOUT GREG WALDEN

Represented Oregon's 2nd Congressional District. He served 11 terms in the House. He left the House in 2021.

The Questions

  1. Are hate crimes a problem in your state?
  2. Should Congress do something about hate crimes and white supremacist violence in your state? If so, what specifically?

The Response

From a spokeswoman: "Congressman Walden’s position remains the same. As he reiterated in a statement recently, he does not, and will never, condone discrimination. He has voted multiple times in the past to expand federal authority and enforcement of all hate crimes. Like many Oregonians, he is greatly concerned with the ongoing protests and violent actions – such as the attack on a conservative journalist – in downtown Portland. We should enforce the law and prosecute all those who commit violent acts."
