Pfizer is the largest research-based pharmaceutical firm worldwide. The New York-based company, whose products include Lipitor, Viagra, and Celebrex, paid a record $2.3 billion in fines and penalties in 2009 to resolve allegations that it illegally promoted some of its drugs. A subsidiary also pleaded guilty to felony charges of improperly marketing the anti-inflammatory Bextra.
