Health
Federal health inspectors from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention inspect cruise ships twice a year, checking everything from kitchen equipment to dishwasher temperatures, and grade ships based on what they find. A score below 86 is considered failing. Cruise ships are also required to report all illness outbreaks affecting more than 3% of passengers or crew to the CDC. Inspections and outbreaks from 2010 to the present are shown below.

On 29 January, 2010, the Passenger Vessel ALBATROS reported a crewmember injury while moored at Los Angeles Berth 91/92. The crewmember, employed as a musician, was last seen on Deck 6 in the Atlantic lounge at 1130. At 1140, Customs and Border Protection Agents monitoring the 3rd deck gangway witnessed him fall onto the 3rd Deck floor from above, landing in between the bulkhead and the lower steps of the stairwell. There were no witnesses who saw him go over the rail, and no one directly involved in the incident. The crewmember was taken to UCLA Harbor Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Drug and alcohol test results are pending the coronerâs report. An autopsy will be conducted pending next of kin approval. On February 2, 2010, an autopsy was conducted by the LA County Coroner, including toxicology screening. Cause of death was attributed to traumatic injuries sustained during the fall, and toxicology was completed for the presence of drugs or alcohol.
