Eli Lilly began reporting payments for speaking, consulting, patient education programs and international education programs as of January 2009. Its first report included the total number of activities each doctor took part in, but that was removed in subsequent reports. In 2010, it added certain travel related expenses. In 2011, it added spending on research and meals. Lilly combines business travel and educational items into one category. Lilly maintains a separate log of payments to health professionals who are not doctors and is the only company to do so. Those payments are also included in Dollars for Docs.
Eli Lilly's 2013 U.S. sales: $15.3 billion. Source: IMS Health.
