Novartis

Based in Basel, Switzerland, Novartis makes prescription and generic drugs, eye care products, vaccines and diagnostics. In September 2010, Novartis agreed to pay $420 million to settle allegations of improper marketing of six drugs. It pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of off-label promotion involving Trileptal as an anti-epileptic drug.

Novartis reports payments to physicians for speaking and speaker training after October 2010. Its first report covers the period of October 2010 to September 2011. Its 2012 report includes meals, travel, consulting, educational items, research and speaking fees. Data from October to December 2011 is not included in this tool.
