Pfizer

Pfizer, based in New York, paid $2.3 billion in fines and penalties in 2009 to resolve allegations that it illegally promoted some of its drugs. A subsidiary also pleaded guilty to felony charges of improperly marketing the anti-inflammatory Bextra. Its top-selling drug Lipitor went off patent in early 2012.

Pfizer began reporting payments for speaking, consulting, research, meals, travel and educational items in July 2009. It has not changed its reporting format in any material way since then.
