Disclosed Value
Listed Reason
Equity Interest - Non-publicly traded entity ( e.g., stock, stock option, or other ownership interest)

The TTUHSC Conflict of Interest in Research Committee (COIRC) has determined that Dr. Reddy has a conflict of interest as defined by HSC OP 73.09, Conflict of Interest in Research, as a consequence of his financial interest in abSynapTex, LLC., Lubbock, TX, a drug development start-up company that has a licensing agreement with Texas Tech University System (TTUS), and in which Dr. Reddy is a founding Principal, stockholder, Chief Scientific Officer, and consultant. The conflict derives from the potential for Dr. Reddy to benefit financially from company and IP ownership interests that could be influenced by results of ongoing research in his laboratory.

Listed Research Project
Mitochondrial Fragmentation and Neurodegeneration in Huntington's Disease

Mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative damage are involved in Huntington's disease (HD) pathogenesis. The objectives of the proposed research are to determine whether a partial reduction of the mitochondrial fission protein, Drp1 protects against excessive mutant huntingtin-induced mitochondrial fragmentation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and synaptic toxicities; and to determine whether the mitochondrial division inhibitor, Mdivi 1 protects against mutant huntingtin-induced mitochondrial toxicity and synaptic alterations, and enhances neuronal function and survival in HD-affected neurons.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
