Conflict of Interest

The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Dr. Savova helped create and continues to develop a Clinical Text Analysis and Knowledge Extraction System (cTAKES; ctakes.apache.org), which was released under an open-sourced license – Apache 2.0. Wired Informatics is envisioned to provide services and products for clinical Natural Language Processing applications using the open source Apache cTAKES among other tools. In this Study funded by the NCI we are investigating computational methods for deep phenotyping that can enable translational cancer research for breast, skin and ovarian cancers as well as cancer surveillance for breast, lung and colon cancers. Some of the methods will likely be released as modules in the open-source Apache cTAKES which is incorporated in the software to be built under this Study. This grant may be related to Wired Informatics because after the open-source release of the methods in Apache cTAKES, Wired Informatics might choose to include the new or improved modules in its products. Of note, Apache cTAKES is distributed under the liberal Apache 2.0 license and any interested party (academic, industry, government, not-for-profit, individual) is allowed to use it in research/products, therefore there is no exclusivity of use to Wired Informatics.

Listed Research Project
Cancer Deep Phenotype Extraction from Electronic Medical Records

We propose research to enhance the ability of researchers to utilize data from unstructured medical records in their translational cancer research programs. The proposed software platform has the ability to enhance the health of the public by contributing new methods for advancing cancer research.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
