The Belize Foundation

Based in Austin, Texas, The Belize Foundation was established in 2010 as a non-profit (501c3) to help fund and promote human and environmental development, conservation, and sustainability within the nation of Belize. The Foundation seeks to provide and leverage Belizean and international talent, capital, and know-how for the development of creative and innovative opportunities for the development of Belize’s economic and human assets for an improved and sustainable quality of life. Dr David Gibson is president of TBF; and an Associate Director at the IC2 Institute here at UT where I work. He was my direct supervisor 2003 to about 2005. I've assisted with him with the organization since he established the non-profit. Most months there is no work to be done on this project. It could appear so. However I try to conduct my work for TBF outside the parameters of my job at UT. In January a group from Norway and Belize came and met with DR. Gibson, and had meetings at IC2 over the course of several days (but less than one week). I did not log any time spent assisting in these meetings as work performed at IC2 Institute. The time spent working with TBF that week did not directly interfere in any of my deliverables for the Institute. Further, this assistance was not compensated. I communicated the situation with my direct supervisor, Dr. Robert Peterson, the Director of the Institute throughout the week. It wasn't completely comfortable for me, but it was an exception. If offered travel, or other compensation I will take it. But it generally doesn't turn into either.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.
