Do just one thing

--

Do you remember the first time you got involved in a cause you believed in?

I bet you did it because someone asked you to, or talked to you about an issue close to their heart.

That's a big part of how I first got involved. Not long after Barack and I got married, the two of us would take a couple of our friends along to collect signatures for his very first campaign for the state legislature. We'd knock on doors, get to know our neighbors, and talk to folks about the issues right on their front steps -- or in their living rooms.

It was then that I realized the power that every voter has, not only to make their own voice heard, but to reach out and get their friends and family involved. That's the only way we're going to give Barack another four years.

That's my story -- what's yours? Help launch "It Takes One," our new effort to inspire even more people to get involved in this campaign. Tell your story: Who first brought you into this movement?

"It Takes One" is as simple as it sounds. Every time you take action, whether it's attending an event or registering voters, I'm asking you to take one other person along.

Reaching out one person at a time might not seem like much, but consider this -- that neighbor you recruit will talk to someone else, who will reach out to yet another person. And your impact grows.

That could be the difference between waking up on November 7th knowing you did everything you could to re-elect Barack -- or asking yourself, "Could I have done more?"

Join me -- share your story today. Let's get out there and win this thing one person at a time:

Michelle

Election Day is closer than you think, so I want you to consider something:

If each of us brings in just one person to support Barack between now and November 6th, we will win this election.

That's because the person you bring into this campaign will join you in making calls, knocking on doors in your community, and registering folks to vote. And somewhere along the line, they will bring another supporter in. And that supporter will, in turn, move forward to bring other folks in.

And that will have started with you.

That's the fundamental principle behind the new campaign program we are launching today called "It Takes One." It's about organizing and inspiring others, one at a time.

I am counting on each and every one of you to commit to taking one action right now to grow our campaign. And you can get started by sharing your personal story, which could help inspire the next person to get involved.

Who brought you here? Who first inspired you to support Barack or get involved in this movement? Share your story here and help inspire the next person.

Since 2008, we've relied on a different way of doing politics from the ground up. And it will take every single one of us to ensure that we can keep moving forward.

By sharing your story today, you won't just be helping to inspire the next supporter of Barack Obama or this campaign. You'll be providing proof that, even in the face of unprecedented spending by special interests, our idea of grassroots organizing can still win elections one person at a time.

Share who brought you into this organization and inspire someone else:

It takes one, and it starts with you. Let's get out there.

You've probably heard Barack say that this election will be a lot closer than the last one -- and it's true. This could all come down to just a few votes per precinct in key states.

That's why I want you to be a part of "It Takes One" -- a new effort we're launching today. It's simple: We're asking folks to commit to doing just one thing to help build our campaign right now, whether that's registering a new voter, pitching in at a local office for one hour, or recruiting one friend to volunteer.

I know there's a reason why the outcome in November matters to you -- and your one action will be a part of something bigger.

If every supporter gets started right now by taking one simple action to help our campaign grow, the combined impact could make all the difference on Election Day.

Help kick off "It Takes One" by sharing the story of who brought you into this campaign -- so that we can inspire even more people to get involved.

Think about the impact you can have if you just take one other person with you the next time you go to a phone bank. You'll reach twice as many people as you would on your own. And if that extra person can convince someone else to come along to the next phone bank after that, your impact grows and grows.

That kind of grassroots organizing is at the core of our campaign -- and it always has been.

After Barack and I were first married, we spent every Saturday with friends collecting signatures for his first race. We talked to neighbors and folks we'd never even met about what was happening in the community -- and how Barack could help.

Being a part of "It Takes One" is based on that same idea -- of engaging with people one-on-one. And that's how we'll succeed this fall: It's about one person bringing in another, who brings in another, until we have the strength and the votes we need to win on November 6th.

Be a part of this new effort from the start -- share your story and help someone else see that it takes just one to make a difference in this election:

Thanks,

Michelle

You'll need to comb your hair for this

--

Maybe you're already thinking about which family photo you'll use in your next holiday card -- or maybe your Facebook photo is due for an update.

I've got a once-in-a-lifetime solution: President Obama is coming to New York City for an event in a few weeks -- and you could get to meet him.

Chip in $X or whatever you can today and you'll be automatically entered for a chance to get your family photo taken with the President:

Here's what will happen: You and up to five of your family members will get to your reserved spot at the event, where a photographer will be waiting. You'll all meet the President of the United States, and we'll take the picture to prove it.

So comb your hair, put on a clean shirt, and start practicing your camera-ready smile in the mirror.

Give it a shot today:
