We expect Mitt Romney and the Republicans to outspend us.

What I will not abide is getting outspent by a margin that negates all the hard work our volunteers are doing -- talking to voters, knocking on doors, making calls.

We are in control of that outcome, but our time to close the gap is dwindling. After three consecutive months of being significantly outraised, it couldn't be more urgent.

Will you make a donation today?

I don't get to tell you enough how grateful I am.

Four years ago, when I was with Barack at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, this whole experience started to feel a lot more real for me.

I'll always remember watching him walk out to accept the party's nomination for president of the United States. It was a moving, humbling moment, and I know that it wouldn't have been possible without people like you.

That's why I'm inviting a couple supporters like you to share it with me this time around -- and tonight's your last chance to enter.

If you donate $X or whatever you can to support this campaign before tonight's midnight deadline, you'll be automatically in the running to join Barack and me at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte:

[url]

Every entry today counts as two chances to win.

You and a guest will get to meet Barack in Charlotte and, during his speech, you'll join me up front as my special guest.

When Barack takes the podium, he'll be kicking off the last leg of his final campaign. He'll address our country, laying out the future we're working toward together: a country that rewards hard work, gives every worker a fair shot, and provides all of our children access to a great education, allowing them to dream even bigger than we ever did. Even more is on the line this time, and every day -- every minute -- will be crucial if we're going to keep moving this country forward.

Elections are won by engaging people in our democracy. That's what this convention is all about, and I hope to see you there -- with me.

Donate before tonight's deadline to be automatically entered to join us in Charlotte:

Can't wait,

Michelle

P.S. -- The campaign will even cover airfare for you and your guest to Charlotte -- and your hotel for all three nights. How can you pass this opportunity up?

I always look forward to the Democratic National Convention, and not just because I get to see Barack in his best suit.

There's a special kind of energy when passionate and dedicated people come together in common purpose.

You've just got to be there to feel it for yourself. And this year, maybe you can.

Tonight at midnight is the deadline to enter for a chance to join us, and for today only, every entry counts as two chances to win.

Donate $X or whatever you can to be automatically entered to be my personal guest for the convention.

We'll fly you and a guest to Charlotte and make sure you get VIP seats for all three days. Plus, you'll get to meet Barack before he accepts the nomination, and watch with me up front as he takes the stage.

Our convention is about honoring people like you: The volunteers who spend their weekends registering voters, the donors who chip in what they can to grow this campaign, the organizers who put in long hours making calls and knocking on doors. You are the ones who deserve a front-row seat to history.

And it's about laying out the future we're working toward together: A country that rewards hard work, gives every worker a fair shot, and provides all of our children access to a great education, allowing them to dream even bigger than we ever did.

I know the work you're doing out there isn't easy, but it's what's going to win us this election. That's why I want you to feel the energy of the convention for yourself -- and add your own into the mix as well.

Donate $X or whatever you can before midnight tonight, and you'll be automatically entered -- twice -- to join Barack and me at the convention:

We found out yesterday that the Romney campaign and Republicans more than doubled their cash-on-hand advantage in July. That means they have nearly $X million more in the bank than we do.

This margin is in the danger zone. Election Day is closer than you think, and we clearly have some work to do.

Please donate $X or more today to help close the gap:

[url]

That gap represents how Mitt Romney and his backers expect to win this race: Dump millions into negative TV ads in an attempt to drown out our organizing work on the ground. Ninety percent of Romney's ads right now are negative, and their side is already outspending us nearly 3 to 1 in some battleground states.

That's not including outside groups and super PACs, which are already spending millions to tear us down. The Koch brothers' Americans for Prosperity has already spent $X million on ads attacking President Obama. Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS: nearly $X million, and they plan to spend as much as $X million before Election Day.

If we win this election, it will be because people like you gave what you could afford to help close the gap, whenever you could.

Please donate $X or more today:

Thanks for your help.

We learned yesterday that Mitt Romney and his Republican allies more than doubled their cash advantage over us in July.

In just a few months of record fundraising, the other side has taken a huge lead in what they have in the bank -- now a nearly $X million gap. And we already know how they're spending that money: 90 percent of the Romney campaign's ads are negative, many of them nasty and deceptive, trying to bulldoze President Obama and what we built together.

When we launched our campaign last year, we decided we'd win this election on the ground. That's why we're investing resources in the field operation out in the states. It costs more to run that kind of campaign, but that's the only way a grassroots organization can beat a money machine.

The other side is already outspending us nearly 3 to 1 in some battleground states, and the Romney people are hoping that these negative ad blitzes will cancel out all our work. If we can keep the money race close, there's no way that happens.

Don't let them run up the score -- pitch in $X or more right now:

[url]

Believe it -- if we all work together, we're going to win this thing.

Akin, Romney, and Ryan

In a recent statement that was both factually inaccurate and horribly offensive, Republican Missouri Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin said that victims of "legitimate rape" don't get pregnant because "the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan tried to distance themselves from the remark -- but the fact is they're in lockstep with Akin on the major women's health issues of our time. Just this morning, the Republican Party voted to include the "Human Life Amendment" in their platform, calling for a constitutional ban on abortions nationwide, even for rape victims. Several Romney supporters and advisers stood silently by while this vote took place, and the Los Angeles Times reports that the platform "was written at the direction of Romney's campaign."

President Obama spoke out yesterday in response to Akin's comments: "What I think these comments do underscore is why we shouldn't have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health care decisions on behalf of women."

This controversy is not an accident, or a mistake, or an isolated incident. It's a reflection of a Republican Party whose policies are dangerous for women.

There is a clear choice for women in this election: Stand with President Obama.

I entered this national debate on women's rights in February, when, as a Georgetown Law student, I testified before members of Congress on the issue of contraception.

Without knowing me or my story, Rush Limbaugh called me a "slut" and a "prostitute" on his radio show.

Many Americans stepped forward to tell me they agreed with me, and supported my right to speak out without being verbally attacked. President Obama stood with us.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand? He didn't even condemn the remark, instead saying only: "It's not the language I would have used."

Since that moment, I'm even more resolved to continue the fight to make sure every single woman -- and every man who cares about the women in his life -- knows exactly what's at stake in this election. The Republicans are frighteningly clear on these issues.

The party platform itself includes a "salute" to states that have pushed "informed consent" laws, such as those that force women seeking an abortion to first undergo an invasive and medically unnecessary ultrasound.

Just last year, Paul Ryan joined Todd Akin and more than 200 other Republicans in co-sponsoring legislation that would have narrowed the definition of rape, limiting which victims of rape were "legitimate" enough to receive financial assistance for access to abortion care.

Mitt Romney famously says he would "get rid of" Planned Parenthood if he had the chance. And both Romney and Ryan pledge to go back to a system where insurance companies can discriminate against women and charge us more than men for the same health insurance.

Akin's comments shouldn't be surprising. But this isn't about him -- just like it was never about me.

President Obama has told us what he's fighting for: "I want women to control their own health choices, just like I want my daughters to have the same opportunities as your sons."

Republicans, led by Romney and Ryan, have made it clear that they want to make our decisions for us.

President Obama trusts us to make our own.

It's as simple as that. Join me and stand with him today:

See you in Charlotte?

In 2008, I had a life-changing experience. I rejoiced with my fellow Americans as we watched then-Senator Barack Obama accept our nomination for President of the United States. The energy was electrifying and moving.

You can experience the same thing at the 2012 convention in Charlotte. Sign up now to get your free credential for the convention, and join me in watching President Obama deliver his acceptance speech -- the one that will kick of the last leg of this urgent campaign -- in person.

Here's what happened in 2008: In a packed stadium, my fellow Democrats and I shared an incredibly personal and intimate experience. Before our very eyes, our hearts and hopes soaring, we watched the course of history change. We saw our beautiful country come closer to fully manifesting the promises of our Republic. We were there to help usher in a renewal of our most cherished values: Fairness. The dignity of hard work. The power and integrity of our middle class. The proud can-do American spirit. The elbow-grease willingness to tackle our most intractable problems, and the confidence that we could, and would, steer our great country back on track. It was one of the highlights of my life.

I've been working hard for President Obama since 2007, because he's been working hard for Americans. I'll be at the convention, as an at-large delegate for Tennessee, and as an American who loves her country and wants our president to have four more years to build on his outstanding work. I am so proud of what he's accomplished. He saved the auto industry -- and GM and Chrysler have repaid their outstanding government loans years ahead of schedule. He's helped provide access to affordable health care to millions of Americans who might otherwise have gone uninsured, and put our economy on a path back to recovery.

For women and girls, he's made unparalleled progress -- signing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help women fight for equal pay for equal work, expanding access to preventive health care and contraception, and making a commitment to preventing violence against women.

I have so much excitement and so much hope for what President Obama can do for our country with another term.

I'm counting the days until the convention. I've signed up to do whatever I can to help out the campaign, and I'm not alone. Tens of thousands of people will be there in Charlotte -- people like you who have been pitching in what they can, volunteering their time and investing their energy in re-electing President Obama.

The convention will be an opportunity for us to celebrate that work, our hope, and our commitment to progress, together. It'll also be a great reminder of why we're all in this. If you can make it, I know you'll leave with the same kinds of powerful memories and stories that I have. You'll be able to say, for the rest of your life, "I was there!"

When you sign up today, an organizer will get in touch with more information about the logistics. I encourage you to make travel and accommodation plans right away. Don't miss out on this special moment.

Romney for President

Deceitful rhetoric

President Obama seems to have a very selective memory.

During a surprise media briefing yesterday - the first in eight weeks - he claimed that his campaign had never called Mitt Romney a criminal. But back in July, his campaign did just that, saying Governor Romney "could be guilty of a felony."

Let's be very clear: when you accuse your opponent of committing crimes and refuse to condemn attacks that link your opponent to killing someone, you have lost all credibility.

There's no doubt that President Obama will say and do anything to save his job. This is not the first time his campaign has distorted the truth or engaged in outright dishonest and personal attacks. But the President's untruthful denial and his continued failure to stand against such deceitful rhetoric have diminished the office he holds, and it's another promise to voters he's broken.

The Democratic Party -----------------------

Here's the Republican Party's message to women in 2012: No choice. No exceptions.

After 48 straight hours of Republicans falling all over each other calling for Rep. Todd Akin to rescind his ridiculous, ignorant-of-basic-biological-functions comments about rape and abortion, their party just voted to embrace Akin's position by including a constitutional ban on all abortions -- even in cases of rape or incest -- in their 2012 platform.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are now, incredibly, saying they don't agree with the policies of the party whose nomination they're about to accept, but guess what? The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, "written at the direction of Romney's campaign."

This is some pretty unbelievable stuff, even by Mitt Romney standards.

It's up to us to make sure voters see through this and know just how dangerously wrong for women these candidates are -- but we can't do it without your help. Donate $X or more today:

Romney, Ryan and the Republican Party are showing their true colors -- and just how dangerous they will be for women if they're victorious on Election Day. We can't let them continue to say one thing to the public while privately pushing to make it harder for women to control their own bodies.

We know what we're up against. And if we aren't able to give Democrats the resources we need to win in November, women in America stand to lose decades of progress.

I'm not willing to let that happen, and I know you aren't either. Donate $X or more today to give Democrats the resources they need to fight back against this dangerous hypocrisy:

It's 2012. The entire Republican Party just said it wants a constitutional amendment telling rape survivors they don't get to make their own health care decisions. Democrats across the country are fighting back.

Help us fight.

Thanks,

Debbie

P.S. -- Republicans also included a "salute" in their platform to states implementing invasive and medically unnecessary ultrasound laws for women making personal health-care decisions. You can't make this stuff up -- donate now to fight back:
