It's not hyperbole to suggest that this is the starkest choice for president that this country has had in my lifetime.

Barack and I have a fundamentally different vision and profoundly different values than our opponents do on everything from Medicare to how to balance the federal budget to a woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

That's why it's absolutely critical that we have the resources we need over these final weeks to win tight races across the country.

Chip in $X or more today -- before our big quarterly fundraising deadline.

If you think your donation doesn't matter, just look at what congressional Republicans have done over the past four years. They've dug in their heels to oppose the President and his agenda every chance they've gotten -- and a lot of their disagreements aren't based on the facts or their principles or what the American people need. They're just trying to shut him down.

I think if President Obama said he liked mustard on his hot dogs, you'd hear a lot of the other guys start talking about how pro-ketchup they are.

That's not leadership, and it's why this election -- and what you do today -- is so important. Make a donation of $X or more now:

Democrats --

Todd Akin -- the man who offended just about everyone when he made the dead wrong claim that there is a medical difference between "legitimate rape" and other instances of rape -- was just officially locked in as the GOP opponent for Claire McCaskill's Missouri Senate seat.

Today, here's what he had to say about the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Missouri, after he observed that she seemed "aggressive" in Friday's debate:

" In her 2006 campaign, McCaskill had a confidence and was very much more sort of ladylike ."

If you've heard enough, chip in $X to stop him. The critical September fundraising deadline is when Democrats will decide if we have the resources to really take on candidates like this one -- so it's up to you, right now.

Mr. Akin thinks Missouri's Senator, who serves on the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Committee on Commerce, Committee on Science and Transportation, Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Special Committee on Aging, is not "ladylike" because she wasn't sweet to him in their debate.

"She came out swinging," Akin said, "and I think that's because she was threatened."

You're in a position to stop this man from holding office in our nation's Senate and to stop him from authoring our laws. You're in a position to stand with Senator McCaskill as she enters the fight of her life. The September FEC fundraising deadline is in just a few days, and that's when we're going to have to make calls about how hard Democrats can fight against extreme GOP candidates like this.

Donate $X or more to help Democrats shut this guy down and take on the cynical, win-at-any-cost backers funding him:

Todd Akin's crossed the line again and again, and we're the ones who are going to tell him that he can't take his ignorance, his fanaticism, and anything else he has to say about what's ladylike and what's not to our Senate floor.

Thanks for everything you do,

Hildy

Want to know what really frightens me?

It frightens me that Mitt Romney is the leader of the Republican Party -- and there are hundreds of Republican candidates across the country who think just like him. And they could win on November 6th. If they do, boy, is our country in trouble.

Just look at what Republicans in the House have tried to do in this last legislative session alone: They voted to defund Planned Parenthood and voted 33 times to repeal Obamacare -- yet never voted once for the President's jobs bill to help put Americans back to work. It is never acceptable -- never -- to put politics before people.

Our most important fundraising deadline yet is on Sunday -- and we have just a little over a month left to do everything we can to make sure that President Obama and Democrats across the country win on Election Day.

Seriously -- I hope you feel the urgency I do. We can't let these Republicans control the White House and Congress for the next four years.

Donate $X or more today to give Democrats the resources they need:

We can do this.

The Democratic Party -----------------------

The GOP has just pulled a particularly craven 180.

First, they condemned Rep. Todd Akin for his incredibly offensive comments toward women and tried to force him from the Senate race in Missouri.

That failed, so now they're backing him again.

What happened to the moral outrage following Rep. Akin's comments on "legitimate rape"? Clearly, it was nothing more than pandering.

In fact, Akin's radical view on abortion is even codified in the Republican Party platform: ban it even in cases of rape or incest.

This is a pretty clear example of the kind of politics and candidates we're up against. The stakes are high. Donate $X or more today to help Democrats and defeat Republicans like Todd Akin:

There is a critical fundraising deadline coming up on Sunday -- and we know that, like us, the other side will be making decisions for the final month of this election based on how much they raise in the next few days.

It's up to each one of us to do everything we can to stop Republicans across the country like Todd Akin from winning on Election Day.

We know that the policies that come from Republican establishment-backed candidates -- even ones who haven't said stupid, offensive things -- would be disastrous for women.

Fight back before our major fundraising deadline by chipping in $X or more today:
