My father
3 email variations
I grew up in the White House. I remember as a small child
visiting my father in the Oval Office while he worked.
But really, we could have been growing up in any American
home. We were just children, happy to see our dad -- even
if he was stepping out of a helicopter that had landed on
our front lawn.
That's why, on Father's Day, I'm thinking of Michelle Obama
and the girls, and the time they'll get to spend with the
President as a family.
I can appreciate how long the days can be -- and how
wonderful it feels to know that, no matter how full your
father's plate is, you're the best part of his day and the
most important part of his life.
So I'm joining Michelle and others all around the country
to wish the President a happy Father's Day.
As you acknowledge a special father figure in your own
life, I hope you'll join me by adding your name to tell
Barack how much he means to all of us:

Thanks, and happy Father's Day to every dad out there.

I was young, but I remember being a little girl at the White House.
To me, the president was Daddy first, leader of the free world after that. I'm sure it's the same for Sasha and Malia.
We used to run into his room when we woke up to have breakfast and do exercises together. He liked to surprise us on the playground or at the White House school there was one back then , calling all the kids over to him.
He'd let us fill his bathtub with our toys and play while he was getting dressed.
For a treat, we'd sometimes get to use the phone, calling our grandparents and "Santa Claus." In the early days, I joined my father on his walk to the Oval Office each morning.
Today, Father's Day, I'm thinking about the Obamas. Just like my family, with all the pressures and sacrifices they're making for this country, they're parents and children first.
Will you join me in wishing Barack Obama a happy Father's Day?

To me, my dad was just that: a dad.
I remember the bedtime stories -- he'd let me pick the subject usually ponies , then make up a story on the spot.
It wasn't until I got a lot older that I really understood what it meant that my father was the president.
And it wasn't until I became a parent myself that I understood just how much he loved my brother and me.
I've seen Barack Obama as a dad in the White House.
It's just one of the things about President Obama I admire so much.
This Father's Day, will you join me in wishing him a good one?
