When he thought the cameras were off, this is what Mitt Romney told a group of wealthy donors he really thinks about half of America: "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the President no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what...These are people who pay no income tax...

My job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives." Think about that for a second. A man who is running for president of the United States thinks that half of all Americans aren't worth his effort or time -- that they see themselves as victims, and don't take responsibility for their lives.

Putting aside the factual inaccuracies in that statement, think about how badly he's misjudged the character of this nation. This man should not be president.

This is the kind of mentality that President Obama and Democrats across the country are up against. We believe that every American deserves a fair shot -- no matter where they come from or who their parents are.

And you know what? It is the job of the president to worry about every American, no matter whether they voted for him or not.

I can't stomach the thought of Mitt Romney and Republicans who think like he does winning in 49 days. But we've got a tough road ahead of us, and we need your help to fight back.

We can't let Mitt Romney get away with this one:

In an interview with ABC News, Romney said one challenge he thinks he'll face in the upcoming presidential debates is that "the President tends to, how shall I say it, to say things that aren't true."

Oh, come on. To hear anyone say that would make me more than a little angry but coming from Mitt Romney, a man who has practically made saying things that aren't true an art form in this campaign, it makes my blood boil.

In the past week alone, Governor Romney lied about President Obama's jobs plan, he lied about his tax plan, and he lied about Medicare.

It's up to us to make sure the American people know that Mitt Romney and Republicans across the country are deliberately misrepresenting the truth but the only way we can do that is to give Democrats the resources we need to win between now and Election Day.

Time's running out. Democrats across the country are locked in close races, and we can't let these distortions be the determining factor.
