The Democratic Party

I'm rooting for our president at tonight's debate, and I know he'll do us proud.

The question is: Will Mitt Romney repeat his first performance -- saying anything to woo voters, no matter how untrue -- or will he engage in an honest debate about his plans to significantly cut taxes for the wealthy, while the average middle-class family with kids would pay $X more?

Get the popcorn ready. I have a feeling we're about to see a Romney sequel.

No matter how many misrepresentations we may see tonight, know this: You have the power to fight back. The outcome of this election is in your hands.

What happens on Election Night hinges on what you do in big moments like this.

Before the debate tonight -- and before the huge FEC fundraising deadline tomorrow -- donate $X or more to help Democrats win:

The Democratic Party -----------------------

The $X trillion question: Will we see the real Mitt Romney at the debate tonight?

We've been hearing for months about his $X trillion tax cut weighted toward the wealthy, to be paid for by a $X tax hike on middle-class families. At the first debate -- poof! The plan disappeared.

He and the Republicans will say anything to grab some votes. Shame on us if we let them get away with it.

Exactly three weeks from tonight, we'll see the results roll in, and we'll know if we did enough to set the record straight.

Now, you and I can probably spot Romney's distortions from a mile away. But for millions of Americans, that first debate was the first time they tuned in to this election.

The Mitt Romney they saw up there was not the self-described "severely conservative" candidate we've been running against since May.

Mitt Romney ran away from his very own tax plan! And then -- then he looked the American public in the eye and said he had a health care plan that would cover people with pre-existing conditions. He said no, he wouldn't replace Medicare with a voucher system, and that when it comes to tax cuts -- hey, he's just looking out for the middle class.

All of it: Simply and patently untrue.

That's the shot, folks.

Here's the chaser: If we're not ready to get President Obama's back after tonight's debate and punch back on the next round of distortions from Romney and the Republicans, it could very well cost us up and down the ticket on Election Night.

So help Democrats prepare for this fight. Before the debate tonight, please chip in $X or more:

And once we win on Election Day, you'll be glad you listened to me.

Thank you for your help in this,
