Based on interview and record review, the hospital failed to ensure that Patient 1's medical information was kept confidential from anyone not authorized access.Findings:An interview with the hospital's Patient Relations was conducted on 5/10/12 at 2:18 P.M. The PR stated that Patient 1's emergency department intake report was inadvertently given to Patient 2. The PR stated that the nurse should have checked to ensure that the documents were being given to the right patient. The intake report indicated Patient 1's name, date of birth, medical record number, and diagnosis.
