#InfrastructureWeek tweet thread ! To kickstart infrastructure week, I wanted to begin by laying out my infrastructure priorities for the Lowcountry. First + foremost, we need to invest in our roads and bridges, flooding and traffic problems, and evacuation routes.

I'm focused on infrastructure resiliency bc we need to build for tomorrow. We need to build and invest with a mind towards what our community will look like in decades. As we continue to face the impacts of climate change, we know these problems will only get worse.

Flooding threatens Charleston's medical district. During storms + heavy rains, access to our hospitals (like @CharlestonVAMC and MUSC) can be cut off when our communities need them the most. Recurrent flooding also threatens nearly every military installation in the district.
