Sojourner Truth was an abolitionist & women’s rights activist who escaped enslavement in 1826. In 1851, Sojourner Truth attended the Ohio Women’s Rights Convention in Akron, OH, giving her most famous speech, later known as “Ain’t I A Woman”. https://t.co/XsiIUfTy8W
In her speech, she reminded all in attendance that Black women should be included in discussions about women’s rights. In 1981, an Ohio Historical Marker was unveiled at the site of this speech in Akron, OH. This spring, a statue of Truth is to be erected at the same site.
