Jackson Ward was once known as the Cradle of Black Capitalism & was a vibrant economic & cultural hub. When the nation's interstate system began to expand in the mid-20th century, a highway was constructed right through the center of Jackson Ward -- what is now I-95.
It cut the neighborhood in half, disrupting the lives & livelihoods of residents. We must do our part to right historical wrongs & provide communities with the resources they need to succeed. Thank you to @POTUS & @SecretaryPete for their commitment to reconnecting communities.
