Manchin bizarrely embraces two of the GOP’s most powerful weapons for keeping people of color from the polls: requiring photo ID to vote and purging millions of voters from the rolls. Why on Earth would we do that?

One of the best features of the #ForThePeopleAct is that it would automatically register anyone who interacts with many state agencies to vote, enfranchising 50 million people. Manchin inexplicably limits this provision to the DMV, excluding anyone who doesn't drive.

Anyway, how many Republicans will Manchin’s “compromise” bring on board? The same number who support the For the People Act: 0. We can’t compromise with the GOP when they won’t even come to the negotiating table. When will we learn our lesson?
