Finally, @POTUS announced his intention to nominate David Chipman to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. David has been a steadfast leader on gun violence prevention with decades of experience in law enforcement and I was proud to support his nomination.
This cannot be our last steps as more action is still needed. I remain firm in my work to ensure the Senate holds a vote on #HR8, my bipartisan bill to expand background checks and save lives. Our work must continue.
He also announced that the Department of Justice will do an annual report on firearm trafficking and support more evidence-based community violence intervention programs, important moves that the Task Force also requested.
These actions will better regulate ghost guns which increasingly are being used in gun violence incidents and concealable rifles like the gun used in the Boulder mass shooting. These are actions I have led @HouseGVP Task Force in asking him to take.
@POTUS’s Executive Actions today are an important piece of what is needed to help #EndGunViolence.

Congratulations to Vallejo’s own H.E.R on winning Song of the Year at last night’s Grammy Awards. We are so proud of one of Vallejo’s and the Fifth’s Congressional District’s own for her success! https://t.co/0tSzpYzN2r
THREAD: Gun violence devastates our families, our communities and our schools day in and day out, costing our country $280 billion each year. This status quo is unacceptable.
That’s why today I was proud to speak on the House floor in favor of #HR8, my Bipartisan Background Checks Act that would expand background checks and keep guns out of the hands of those who may be a danger to themselves or others. https://t.co/3VyH7sXyvK

During Gun Violence Survivors week, we remember the lives of those we have lost and the community left behind. Gun violence leaves survivors with not just physical scars, but mental and emotional ones too. We must work to #EndGunViolence. https://t.co/ImJ6TYRYb1

With #COVID19 cases on the rise, it’s vital we all redouble our efforts to #StopTheSpread and keep ourselves safe. The CDC has a good rundown of tips to protect yourself and others. Remember to practice the three Ws: Wash your hands, Watch your social distance and #WearAMask.
At tomorrow’s Town Hall, we will be discussing the rising spread of #COVID19 with George Rutherford, MD, Professor of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at UCSF and Dr. Karen Relucio, Dr. Karen Relucio, Deputy Director of Napa County Health & Human Services-Public Health Officer.

I will do all I can to protect and improve the Affordable Care Act. Americans deserve access to quality affordable health care and protection from being dropped from their coverage because of a pre-existing condition. https://t.co/EExKEYqY8y
