The history of lynchings in America serves as a dark reminder of our nation’s past, but the arc of the moral universe is long and always bends towards justice. Today, we bring a long overdue justice to over 4,000 victims of lynching by passing the #EmmettTill Anti-Lynching Act.

111 years ago, the @NAACP was founded in the wake of the 1908 Springfield Race Riot. The NAACP has spent the last century working tirelessly to advance the causes of Black Americans and I can't thank them enough for their service to our community. Happy Founders' Day! #NAACP QT @NAACP: #HappyFoundersDay to the “Oldest And Boldest” #CivilRights organization. #NAACPFoundersDay https://t.co/3tTUMZBQRU)
Happy 32nd birthday to the powerhouse that is @rihanna. Aside from dominating the music, fashion and cosmetics industries, my favorite things about Rihanna are her philanthropic spirit and the fact that she always honors her Caribbean roots— no matter where she goes. https://t.co/zVVPq9cSvQ
Ida B. Wells risked her life documenting lynchings that occurred across the South, publishing The Red Record in 1895. Not content to stop there, she was a co-founder of the @NAACP NAACP in 1919. Because of her, we can. #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/hSe13TWxTJ

If a foreign rival tries to apply its censorship on U.S. basketball courts, silenced activists should be able to fight back in court. My bill w/ @RepGallagher gives American workers the tools to stand up for human rights & against domestic interference w/o fearing for their jobs. Charlotte E. Ray was the first Black female lawyer. She graduated from Howard Law in 1972, becoming the third woman to earn a law degree. Unfortunately, racism and sexism hurt her practice, and she moved to New York to teach in local public schools. #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/QAHEnFV1l3
#ClimateChange is an existential threat to our planet, our health, and world peace. We cannot be idle in the fight to stop it. Passing my bill is a productive step forward in holding the DHS accountable in this fight.
My bill ensures that the DHS: ✅ conducts research to advance homeland security ✅ provides analysis and technological research on how DHS can confront climate change ✅shares annual reports on their progress with Congress each year for increased accountability
I am proud to see my bill, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Climate Change Research Act, passed in the House this week. This bill addresses not only the threat #ClimateChange poses on our planet but also on our national security.
