Today, I voted in favor of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which will put $15.5B in the hands of NYers. Our country and our state are facing an unprecedented healthcare and economic crisis. #COVID19
True to form, Donald Trump says one thing and does another. I’m co-sponsoring the Medical Supply Chain Emergency Act to force the President to follow through with the #DefenseProductionActNOW. Our frontline responders can’t go any longer without the supplies they need.
This isn't the bill I would've supported if there was a Democratic President & Senate, but I must act now to protect my constituents. I'm proud of the positive changes @HouseDemocrats secured in this package and now we must do what’s best for all Americans and pass the CARES Act. https://t.co/mijrUwHLQe

Thank you to the National Association of County LGBTQ Leaders & Allies for the vital work you do to uplift a community that means so much for me. I will continue to fight #LGBTQ+ rights because we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect for our common humanity. ️ https://t.co/bq8CdRRf5b
Marsha P. Johnson & Sylvia Rivera— key leaders in the #Stonewall Uprising make me proud to be a New Yorker. This #WomensHistoryMonth, let’s come together to honor the trans women of color who led the fight for LGBTQ+ rights as the pioneering members of the Gay Liberation moment. https://t.co/Qwb2YTUuQD
Ari’s legacy lives on through his mother, my friend Devorah (@VictimOfTerror), who has turned her grief into activism in this fight for justice and equality. Thinking about you today Devorah- you are a truly a beacon of hope in our community. Ari will forever be loved in #NY09.
It’s #WomensHistoryMonth! S/O to my mom, Dr. Una Clarke, the first foreign-born councilmember in our city’s history. Momma- I’m proud to stand upon your shoulders & to carry on your legacy, first in the city council and now as I represent the neighborhood we love in Congress. https://t.co/WpuKtzFO06

Charlotte E. Ray was the first Black female lawyer. She graduated from Howard Law in 1872, becoming the third woman to earn a law degree. Unfortunately, racism and sexism hurt her practice, and she moved to New York to teach in local public schools. #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/BatZKSYIqq
I am so proud that critical legislation to make lynching a federal crime passed in the House this evening. Today is a step in the right direction in healing generational trauma in the Black community, denouncing white supremacy & honoring the bloodshed of our ancestors.
The history of lynchings in America serve as a dark reminder of our nation’s past, but the arc of the moral universe is long and always bends towards justice. Today, we bring a long overdue justice to over 4,000 victims of lynching by passing the #EmmettTill Anti-Lynching Act.

111 years ago, the @NAACP was founded in the wake of the 1908 Springfield Race Riot. The NAACP has spent the last century working tirelessly to advance the causes of Black Americans and I can't thank them enough for their service to our community. Happy 32nd birthday to the powerhouse that is @rihanna. Aside from dominating the music, fashion and cosmetics industries, my favorite things about Rihanna are her philanthropic spirit and the fact that she always honors her Caribbean roots— no matter where she goes. https://t.co/zVVPq9cSvQ
Ida B. Wells risked her life documenting lynchings that occurred across the South, publishing The Red Record in 1895. Not content to stop there, she was a co-founder of the @NAACP NAACP in 1919. Because of her, we can. #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/hSe13TWxTJ
