In 1967 I was a community organizer and had the honor of meeting Dr. King at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. The memory of his word, and his courage in the face of immense opposition have stayed with me. Today we honor his legacy through action.

This morning, the House voted on voting rights legislation that requires states to allow early voting, establish automatic voter registration, and creates other essential protections for voters. I voted YES to protect our democracy and your right to vote.
