If you always have President Trump’s back, you can’t have Connecticut’s back. If you are 100% for Trump, that’s 100% wrong for Connecticut. https://t.co/1V52xIGDx0

A perfect day for the Chester Fair with @GovLamont & thousands of happy visitors from all around CT. Something for everyone here. Thank you! https://t.co/gBmbsePhqV
45 Senate Rs are refusing to support & stand by our veterans who are dying due to toxic exposure. Unacceptable & deplorable—these senators need to stop playing shameful political games with the PACT Act. The blockading of these lifesaving benefits must end without delay.
The Roe decision has evoked anger, outrage, & fear. Proud to stand with dedicated advocates in New London as we fight to protect reproductive freedoms & make sure CT remains a safe harbor for abortion care. https://t.co/Xff6zrs7LW
After the activist Supreme Court once again legislated from the bench this morning & struck down a decades old gun violence prevention law, it has never been more necessary for Congress to continue to legislate for a safer America. 3
This isn't the measure I would've fought for or written if acting alone, but it marks meaningful progress. It'll save lives. If you wait for everything in the Senate, you’ll get nothing—& progress is better than nothing. I'm proud to have helped draft this bill & vote for it. 2/
10 yrs ago, when we failed on background check reform after Sandy Hook, the families of those killed yelled “shame!” from the gallery. Today, w/the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act it wasn’t shouts of “shame!”; it was cries of relief that we're finally, at last, doing our jobs.1/ https://t.co/PAoosRENvi
A pillar of political power, but a warm, compassionate friend, Sherry Brown epitomized public service in CT. Her fierce courage & inexhaustible strength inspired so many of us. She led by example. My sympathies go out to her family. https://t.co/oI3tDgzGWs
To counter the youth mental health crisis, early intervention, counseling, & treatment is key. Today I joined @CT_CFSACT & @ChrisMurphyCT to announce a $370,000 federal grant to connect more kids to the care & support they urgently need. https://t.co/1j5E6BK0Gg
RT @KreeWallace: Because they deserve better. Because of the two most important men in my life are vets. #IAVA #ClayHunt
My statement on today’s tragedy in Buffalo: My heart breaks for the Buffalo & East Side community. Even as our thoughts go out to the victims & families, we must honor them with action. Dark, ugly, & hate-filled as this time seems, we cannot back down or give up.
Westport’s Saugatuck River will be dredged—for the first time in 50 yrs—thanks to our CT delegation championing $2.8 million in federal funds & town leadership from Jim Marpe & Jennifer Tooker. It’s a win-win for boaters & economic & environmental values. https://t.co/5Jr1ChXony
Representation matters. It matters for the legitimacy of our whole judicial system. Judges & justices are the voices & faces of the law in America. SCOTUS’ credibility depends on the trust of the people.
RT @BAFuture: .@SenBlumenthal: The failure of a single bridge can paralyze rail transportation up and down the east coast.
RT @motheradvocate: It really is about winning the war at home. Thank you @SenBlumenthal #ClayHunt
RT @motheradvocate: @SenBlumenthal Thanks for caring for America's #veterans!
RT @motheradvocate: WooHoo #ClayHuntSAVAct passed. Thank you @SenBlumenthal for leading the way! Caring for America's #veterans is the right thing to do.
RT @laurenist: .@SenBlumenthal, champion of #ClayHuntSAVAct, has a laundry list of issues for SVAC to take up: housing, mental health, e-health records...
RT @laurenist: If SVAC passes HR 203 #ClayHuntSAVAct today and it is expedited on the floor, it could be the first act of this Congress that Obama signs.
These allegations demand a swift, thorough investigation by the DOD IG. It’s inexcusable to brush aside & cover up this reporting. I do not accept senseless civilian casualties as “collateral damage.” We must fix our policies & procedures for such strikes.
This report reeks. Serious claims of war crimes cries out for immediate, unsparing investigation by the DOD Inspector General & our Armed Services Committee. Now. https://t.co/jlkWppjaec

This must change. Today I stood with Kathleen Cardona & Helen Keiser-Pedersen—both Gold Star Family members—to introduce the Gold Star Families Forever Stamp Act. https://t.co/vjuV9GyXBZ
All who give their lives in service to our nation leave behind a brave Gold Star Family. Too often, the courage & resolve of these families go unrecognized.

If Republicans follow McConnell over a cliff to vote against the January 6th Commission they will be complicit in the Big Lie & prevent efforts to protect our democracy. https://t.co/PvPipCmfVz
Anti-Asian hate crimes have increased by 150% in major U.S. cities over the past year. Deeply unacceptable. I stand with my colleagues & the AAPI community to condemn these horrific acts of violence. We must come together, pass the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, & StopAsianHate.
Hate crimes are on the rise & Congress must take action to help stop this bigoted violence. 1/ Here’s a quick thread on why the Senate should waste no time in passing the Jabara-Hayer NO HATE Act as part of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.
2/ Hate crimes are an especially egregious form of violence because they not only seriously harm the person who was attacked, but traumatize & terrify entire communities to which they belong.
3/ We know that knowledge is power, but when it comes to hate crimes the FBI & other law enforcement don’t have the data to fully understand the scope & complexities of the problem hate crimes pose—which is necessary to implement comprehensive, meaningful solutions.
4/ Right now local reporting systems are woefully underutilized because of systemic problems in identifying & recording these crimes.
5/ The NO HATE Act will improve reporting systems so there is a robust process in place. The primary tactics: Grants to states & localities for training, outreach, specialized units, & reporting system enhancements. State hotlines victims can directly call to report an attack.
