.@RepMaloney's bills will end this corrupt practice and require that companies submit annual reports about these kinds of settlements, which will help hold corporations accountable and incentive them to foster workplaces free of harassment and discrimination. Let's get it done.
I’m proud to co-sponsor these important bills led by @RepMaloney, which will help combat workplace harassment. For too long, corporations have been allowed to use buyouts paid to perpetrators of workplace harassment as a tax deduction - this is wrong and must be corrected. QT @RepMaloney: Nobody should have to endure harassment and discrimination in the workplace, employers should not be able to silenc… https://t.co/Hx38GNmrRa)

Today I joined @Morning_Joe to discuss the Inflation Reduction Act - this is a huge deal, and Democrats in Congress must pass it. The climate provisions and investments in this deal are a huge win for our environment and economy. We can't waste this opportunity. Watch: https://t.co/oCIBf5n21Z

The $$ will help @seattleoh convert these homes to clean energy, which will improve energy efficiency and weatherization and lower utility costs for low-income individuals and families. This project is a great example of how we can achieve our clean energy future.
.@ENERGY recently awarded more than $40 million across the country from the Weatherization Assistance Program to help promote energy efficiency and @SEACityLight received $1.8 million to make energy improvements in multi-family affordable housing in our community.
The House of Representatives responded to the Supreme Court decision by passing two acts protecting the right to choose. We must end the filibuster so the Senate can pass legislation that the majority of Americans want. Our fight for reproductive freedom depends on it. https://t.co/I6ZIZyCZEY
Here in the Puget Sound, we are already seeing the effects of climate change. To combat the harmful effects of climate change, we need to move to a clean energy economy. Check out my recently published op-ed here: https://t.co/FbamV30sMg
The gravity of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade cannot be overstated: reproductive freedom is hanging on by a thread. Today, House Democrats took action and passed two bills to safeguard abortion access, My full statement: https://t.co/8YsNFlYoXh https://t.co/n9VbdSS0Hb
Join me on Tuesday, July 5 at 6 PM PT for a conversation with leaders from reproductive rights organizations to discuss the implications of this decision and what our fight looks like going forward. Register for the event: https://t.co/Jn1VA4TIuo
For the first time ever, Americans have lost a fundamental constitutional right. The Supreme Court's dangerous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade means that millions of Americans will lose access to abortion and reproductive health care - many already have.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law invested $7.5M in our nation's electric vehicle (EV) network. Now, the private sector is following @POTUS's lead and investing more than $700M in the development of EV chargers, which will create 250,000+ EV chargers across the U.S. each year.
These historic investments will make EV charging more affordable and accessible while creating thousands of good-paying, union jobs — further proof that shifting to a green economy will boost domestic manufacturing capacity and grow our economy in a sustainable way.
157 years ago, news reached the town of Galveston, Texas, informing them that, legally, slavery had ended. Today, on #Juneteenth as we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, we also celebrate Black culture and history.
Today we celebrate Juneteenth, which marks the celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. My full statement: https://t.co/S3GXKEKLTP https://t.co/q3pkR3iR6H
That's why today, the House is considering H.R. 2543, the Financial Services Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Economic Justice Act – a package of bills that would help promote racial and economic justice. Proud to support this important bill and I look forward to voting YES.
On average, Black and Latinx households earn about 1/2 as much as the average White household and own only 15-20% as much net wealth. Clearly, communities of color in the U.S. face disparities that Congress must work to reduce so that every family has equal economic opportunity.
Next week, World Relief is breaking ground on the Entrepreneurship Incubation Hub: a teaching and commercial kitchen that will be a multi-impact community space serving the refugee and immigrant population in South King County. Congratulations, @WorldReliefWWA!
During the FY 2022 appropriations process, I was proud to secure $637,000 in Community Project Funding for @WorldRelief in Seattle for their Entrepreneurship Incubation Hub. This week, I had the chance to meet with World Relief and hear more about their important work.
The strength of Washington Ninth's District is our diversity. I look forward to my continued work with @women_refugee to support immigrants and refugees in Washington's Ninth and beyond.
Following the tour, we sat down to discuss their main budget priorities. Last year, I successfully secured federal funding to help them operate an early learning center in the MLK Mixed Use Project in Rainier Valley, but more must be done to support their crucial work.
.@women_refugee provides critical services to immigrants and refugees in the Puget Sound Region to help them integrate into our community and thrive. Last week I had the chance to meet with the organization and receive a tour of their Early Learning Facility.
The virtual event will take place on Tuesday, May 31 at 6:00 PM PT. More information is available on my website: https://t.co/3abxhPmmmc REGISTER: https://t.co/S7uXARB34c
Join me for a panel discussion with leaders from abortion rights organizations in Washington State to discuss what we can expect in a post-Roe world here at home and in states across the country, including the broader implications of this decision for civil rights.
In the aftermath of the leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court showing the majority’s intent to overturn Roe v. Wade, millions of Americans are gravely concerned about the future of reproductive rights in our country.
What happened in Uvalde is devastating. We must do more to protect our communities and prevent mass shootings. Ending gun violence is possible, but we have to refocus our approach. I joined @SRuhle yesterday to talk about the best way forward. WATCH: https://t.co/hUMbFGOavh

Today, I toured @utopia_wa's Mapu Maia Clinic in Kent, which provides a range of resources for substance use and mental health services to members of the LGBTQI community, immigrants, and communities of color that face cultural barriers and exacerbated health disparities.
I recently submitted a Community Project Funding request for the FY 2023 appropriations process for the Mapu Maia clinic so they can expand upon the lifesaving work they are doing in our community. My full statement: https://t.co/8W8HAwC0tN https://t.co/3xDWcpHM38
Today the House passed H.R. 7309, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2022, which would reauthorize and strengthen our nation’s workforce development programs and make them more equitable for all individuals. My full statement: https://t.co/maKeBRlynN
There is no time to wait. The @EPA must take swift action to advance a zero-emissions transportation future in order to effectively address the climate crisis, safeguard clean air, and improve public health in our communities.
Federal leadership is needed to put the United States on a path towards a 100% zero emissions transportation future. That's why I am proud to be a cosigner of a letter to @EPAMichaelRegan urging @EPA to strengthen its proposed Clean Truck Rule.
It is important to celebrate art and creativity among youth, which is why I'm excited to recognize the artistic talent in my district through the Congressional Art Competition. Students in my district submitted their artwork and now it’s time to announce the winners.
Next week my office will host an art exhibition to showcase all the artwork we received and announce the winning entry, which will be hung in the United States Capitol.
The event will take place on Thursday, May 5 at McMicken Heights Elementary School at 5:30 PM PT. We hope to see you there. Learn more about the event: https://t.co/m29OsZ1Z4P
"The integrity of our operations." Quite a comment from someone who has, among other things, refused to recuse himself from cases surrounding the 2020 election, despite his own wife actively working to overturn the results. https://t.co/ZHHfjRMfvt
I wrote an op-ed for the @seattletimes about the need to reform police response and the success that 911 diversion programs could bring to communities across the country: https://t.co/v5jjMChR1x
Today, I'm pleased to welcome @SecBecerra to Washington State for a stop on the National Tour to Strengthen Mental Health to hear directly from Americans in our region about the mental health and wellness challenges they’re facing right now.
@SecBecerra I will first join @SecBecerra, @PattyMurray, @RepJayapal, and @RepKimSchrier on a tour of Crisis Connections, which will be a key partner in the transition to the 988 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
988 will help enhance public safety, deliver better outcomes for community members, and reduce strain on the relationship between police officers and the people they are sworn to serve. This lifeline is a great resource for our community and our country.
Members of our community will be able to call 988 if they are witnessing or experiencing a mental health crisis. 988 will work in conjunction with 911 to ensure that trained professionals - such as social workers, paramedics, and peer support counselors - respond to the call.
