The recently passed bill includes provisions from legislation I introduced with @SenTinaSmith, the Rural MOMs Act, to improve access to health care for expecting mothers in rural regions. https://t.co/lBQMbiCzA3
Alaskans and rural Americans will see the benefits of the bill firsthand as it provides increased opportunities for training, as well as increased support for programs in obstetric care, including postpartum depression.
In light of the disproportionately high maternal mortality rates experienced in rural communities – including Alaska – I’m proud of the strong bipartisan work Congress has put forward in addressing this issue.
That’s why I joined @SenBrianSchatz & a bipartisan group of lawmakers in calling for the expansion of access to telehealth services during the pandemic to be made permanent. We must ensure telehealth is maintained throughout the pandemic, and remains an option afterwards
BLM announced it will publish a Notice of Sale for the first lease sale in the non-wilderness Coastal Plain (1002 Area) of ANWR. https://t.co/6ovXw4AGoH https://t.co/4EIZLmsC6f

Our nation and environment benefit when Alaska is at the table rather than on the menu. We have strict regulations for resource development. It is a fact that clean energy requires minerals. If the new administration is to achieve its goals, it will need to partner with Alaska.
I know there is significant apprehension about what may be in store for resource producers. We made significant strides under the Trump administration, and it is crucial to protect that progress. Reminder for agricultural producers impacted financially by #COVID19, Friday, December 11 is the deadline to apply for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2. More information can be found here: https://t.co/5To8jDEuqh
I was honored to meet w/ one of the winners, Capt Matthew Soukup when I visited JBER earlier this yr before the mask mandate was implemented to reduce the spread of #COVID19. Simply put, these brave airmen are heroes and exemplary role models - we’re proud to have them in Alaska! https://t.co/ECzKXv7v0u
During the visit, I met with service members stationed there to discuss the U.S. government’s holistic approach to the Arctic and AMOC’s integral role in bringing together all the threads of how we remain informed, alert, and come together to protect and defend our country. https://t.co/g6R16Y5rka
During the same visit I was able to meet with service members regarding the impact of #COVID19 to their particular missions, service members and families. https://t.co/M8PDYHyTn9
The role that Alaska plays for our national security is truly unparalleled, and I’m proud of the men and women who serve us every day in this capacity.
I recently had an opportunity to spend time at JBER at the Alaska Mission Operations Center (AMOC), a National Security Agency facility that gathers information and provides combat intelligence. https://t.co/qwLfQKtecm
I was honored to welcome General Glen VanHerck, Commander of @NORADCommand and @USNorthernCmd, for his first visit to Alaska. It was informative to join him in briefings at JBER and at Fort Greely where we received updates on what is happening with our missile defense system. https://t.co/vDdgYnTEGH
I recognize that many Alaskans are have questions when it comes to receiving vaccinations, which is why I joined Alaska’s Chief Medical Officer @annezinkmd for a discussion on the role vaccines play in keeping yourself and your community safe and healthy. https://t.co/YDJgkuoozc
Proud to introduce the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Coronavirus Relief Act w/ @SenTinaSmith, which extends flexibility & funding to after school programs, ensuring students taking part in remote learning receive the support they need to succeed. https://t.co/64pE4k7Lat
21st Century Community Learning Centers have provided high-quality educational programming for over 20 years, inspiring students of all ages to learn, grow, and succeed. #COVID19 has been a major adjustment for everyone, but particularly for our students, teachers, and parents.
Happening soon: I’m joining @uafairbanks students for a Facebook Live Q&A, where we will talk through some of the issues that they are most interested in. Tune in at 2pm ADKT by going to UAF’s Student Leadership and Involvement Office Facebook page: https://t.co/qTNWzy08Ou

There’s nothing quite like a crisp fall morning in Alaska. Here are some shots from across the state, courtesy of my staff, highlighting the beauty of the Last Frontier. https://t.co/IadvoVDsIa
This past weekend @SenDanSullivan & I sat down with @SecArmy McCarthy in Anchorage – an opportunity to discuss #Arctic strategy, Alaska’s geostrategic role in our nation’s defense, and efforts to support the morale and well-being of our men and women in uniform. https://t.co/ZsGezC7dbl
With most of Alaska’s schools ending their first quarter this past Friday, I wanted to give my thanks to all those working to ensure Alaska’s students are able to continue to receive the education they need and deserve. https://t.co/IQKIMPd5tq
I’m glad that those who participate in Alaska’s fisheries have an opportunity to provide feedback, and I thank ADFG for their work to develop this plan. For more information on the spending plan, or to submit written comments, follow the link below. https://t.co/gG48CeVuT8
With passage of the continuing resolution, and winter weather quickly approaching, I joined @SenatorCollins and @SenJackReed in a letter urging the @HHSGov to release LIHEAP funds as quickly and at the highest level as possible.
.@RepElaineLuria and I urge @HASCDemocrats @HASCRepublicans @SASCDems @SASCMajority to include the bipartisan #Nuclear Energy Leadership Act (#NELA) in the final NDAA. Read the letter here: https://t.co/Lh3AbpMIjE https://t.co/NsdmQOlL76

As the @EPA has outlined, this change will reduce economic burdens on industries nationwide, from agriculture to water treatment, reduce government spending, and provide a safer and more sustainable domestic source of chitosan to support its many industry applications.
The recent proposed regulation by the @EPA of chitosan as a minimum risk pesticide will benefit both the environment and domestic businesses, and offers a unique opportunity to American seafood producers to increase full-utilization of their catch, while reducing waste streams. The permit allows A2A to lay track across the border between Alaska and Canada and eventually connect freight rail into the existing Alaska Railroad system. https://t.co/0nIiOH6G4Z
The President’s border-crossing permit for the A2A Railway Development Corp is a big boost for efforts to connect Alaska’s rich resources to a global market via freight rail through Canada. https://t.co/5cJ4m9SX7W
The 2021–22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. Fill out the FAFSA to find out how much you’re eligible to receive from the federal Pell Grant, federal student loans, and state and institutional aid. More information at https://t.co/mc8f1qUgIo.
I look forward to seeing the impacts this will have on increasing cooperation and connection between Canada and Alaska, fostering strong partnerships in the Pacific Northwest and the Arctic, and to extending our region’s influence across the country and the world.
I applaud the President on signing a Presidential Permit authorizing the construction of the A2A, as providing greater access between Alaska and Canada will benefit a myriad of industries including tourism, shipping, energy, manufacturing, national security, and more.
The Alaska to Alberta, or A2A, Railway project is a promising infrastructure endeavor that would involve significant investment in Alaskan railroad and port infrastructure, as well as ongoing maintenance and operations.

While #COVID19 has impacted my travels in Alaska the past year, I had the chance to visit w/ many strong & resilient Alaska small business owners who are working hard to navigate the financial & health impacts of the pandemic - businesses that need our support now more than ever. https://t.co/hZUInGwE2P
Over 50% of Alaska’s workforce are employed by small businesses, and they're the true backbone of our state and national economy. I encourage Alaskans to #shopsmall and support small businesses and entrepreneurs as we continue to navigate this pandemic. #SmallBusinessWeek https://t.co/KI1kxvkLAU
Both bills, which now head to the President’s desk to be signed into law, aim to combat the #MMIP epidemic by improving the federal government’s response through increased coordination, development of best practices, and creation of commission on reducing violent crime.
After taking the torch on this effort from Senator Heitkamp, I committed to her that we would continue to build on her good work for all those who have been victims of these heinous crimes & whose families are also victims in their own way. Now, we follow through on that promise.
Yesterday, we made significant strides in our efforts to address the crisis of missing, murdered, or trafficked Indigenous people. My two bills, #SavannasAct & #NotInvisibleAct, passed the Senate in March & last night they unanimously passed the House. https://t.co/IEWzPmjSES
