Our Alaska troops have a large presence in Iraq. In my op-ed, I stressed the recent attacks on U.S. military bases are a reminder about the sacrifices of troops in the region and encouraged Alaskans to show our support for those who serve our country. https://t.co/PhOUpAak6o
As the U.S. is entering its 19th year of war in Afghanistan & Iraq, the presence of our troops in those regions can be out of sight & out of mind. But recent attacks on U.S. military bases reminded us that we still have troops whose lives are at risk. https://t.co/PhOUpAak6o
Whether it’s using bush planes, snowmachines, & sled dogs to get to hard-to-reach areas or choosing the time of year that works best for our villages—no matter how rural—the @USCensusBureau is working to ensure every Alaskan counts. #2020Census Info here https://t.co/UIlaKEtqEv
The #2020Census count started yesterday in the village of Toksook Bay, AK, w/ village elder & oldest resident Lizzie Chimiugak being the 1st counted. Because of the unique nature of our communities, being counted early & in-person is a strategy to ensure a more accurate total. QT @adndotcom: Toksook Bay elder Lizzie Chimiugak, 90, will be first person counted in the 2020 US census https://t.co/H2199RvZgM https://t.co/f7YpKEG5wH)
The app is still in the early stages but is currently being implemented in one of our Alaskan communities. Thank you to Clyde and others like him who continue for their efforts to end these heartbreaking crimes. https://t.co/8SeUJrvs3x
As an economy that depends on exporting our rich natural resources to global markets and leveraging our geostrategic location as a significant hub for the global air cargo industry, Alaska relies on strong international frameworks for free trade.
The Senate just passed #USMCA, a pro-growth trade pact that will deliver trade certainty, create new jobs, and increase economic development here in the U.S. https://t.co/cpA3Vqv51k #USMCAWin https://t.co/5HwYmiPwvf
Congrats to @SteveGleason, ALS patient, ALS advocate, & retired NFL player, who today received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor given by Congress, in recognition of his work through the Gleason Initiative supporting & advocating for ALS patients and their families https://t.co/1bvpXCbryT
Because of the efforts of individuals like Steve to empower those suffering from the debilitating disease, raise awareness about ALS, and provide support for research, treatment, and advancements in clinical trials—we are one step closer to finding a treatment and a cure for ALS. https://t.co/0D1padmgZN
Alaskans & Greenlanders have a lot of knowledge they can share about responsible energy & mineral development, fisheries mgmt, tourism, conservation, & much more, which helps improve collaboration & cooperation in addressing the challenges & opportunities we face in the #Arctic.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Denmark’s Ambassador Carla Sands (@USAmbDenmark) to discuss strengthening the ties between Alaska and Greenland so that we can do more to benefit of the inhabitants of the #Arctic. https://t.co/RUSm6t1Vxv
As an #Arctic nation, it’s important that we work collaboratively with other Arctic and near-Arctic nations to find balance in the stewardship and development of this emerging region.
On this #LawEnforcementAppreciationDay, I thank the brave men and women in blue for their selfless service in protecting our communities. #LEAD2020 https://t.co/JwwI1KaPF0
My statement on Senator @tedcruz’s resolution Honoring the members of the military and intelligence community who carried out the mission that killed Qasem Soleimani: https://t.co/IxoxdDnGJ4
While we welcome it as a needed dose of short-term certainty, we will continue our push for a lasting solution – reasonable access for responsible resource production on federal lands.
I’m proud of my efforts alongside my Alaskan colleagues @SenDanSullivan and @RepDonYoung to ensure that the final Appropriations measures for Fiscal Year 2020 included a two-year extension of the Secure Rural Schools (SRS) program. https://t.co/UAhfm9tjLH https://t.co/DPfBFn5nwv
The bill provides twelve weeks of paid parental leave as well as improves child care by working to address child care waiting list backlogs, supporting the construction of on-base facilities, and streamlining staff hiring for child development centers. https://t.co/EGG5TOIvKB
I’m proud that the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) not only supports America’s servicemembers, it cares for their families as well. Included in the bill is a 3.1% pay raise for military members, the largest pay raise for our military in over a decade. https://t.co/dhZ7WNyuwy
By also investing in military family housing and healthcare for our service members, we are truly giving our military the support they deserve.
This bipartisan bill aims to address the issue of fragmented case info & data systems regarding public safety in Indian Country to increase interagency coordination b/w federal, state, Tribal, & local law enforcement agencies, providing law enforcement w/ the resources they need.
I’m proud that legislation I cosponsored, the Bridging Agency Data Gaps and Ensuring Safety for Native Communities Act, passed out of the Indians Affairs Committee and is now headed to the Senate floor for consideration. https://t.co/S3o7JSnIVf

This is truly exciting news, and a testament to not only the value of our resources, but the interest in them. With a strong investment environment we can refill TAPS, create Alaskan jobs, and get our state’s economy back on track. #EnergyIsGood https://t.co/PIYBWBuCgX
Today chaired an Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing the upcoming implementation of the International Maritime Organization’s new global sulfur standard for marine fuels – known as “IMO 2020.” https://t.co/5hanlykAgn https://t.co/qxa2VlSLYB
I am very pleased to join my colleague @SenatorShaheen in introducing bipartisan legislation to restore tax-exempt status of contributions in aid of construction received by water utilities. https://t.co/qrRScvXNn0
Through this resolution, we are aiming to increase awareness of the runaway and homeless youth crisis and the issues these young people face. Together, we can all do our part to keep these young people from slipping through the cracks.
Far too many of Alaska’s youth are fleeing from abusive situations at home or the foster care system, into a cycle of homelessness that can often be difficult to reverse. These youth are brave, resilient, and are filled with potential.
As a proud cosponsor, I’m encouraged to know that a resolution introduced by @SenDanSullivan recognizing November as National Runaway Prevention Month passed the U.S. Senate this week. https://t.co/TatmdIgWZa

Energy and water are inherently linked. A great deal of water is used to produce energy, and significant energy is used to purify and transport water. I’m proud that we advanced out of Committee my Nexus of Energy and Water for Sustainability Act or #NEWSAct https://t.co/WYZlVA8ent
The #NEWSAct implements coordination b/w federal agencies on energy & water efficiency research & development programs. Establishing a coordinating body, the Nexus of Energy and Water Sustainability Office, will allow for greater impact and efficiency across agencies. https://t.co/RDqRLJH7ZL

Through innovation and collaboration, Sitka has made great progress developing and improving services and expanding access to care throughout Southeast to create the healthiest possible community they can for everyone that calls it home.
I appreciate @RWJF for recognizing the efforts of Alaskans who are working together to pioneer creative and sustainable solutions to some of our greatest challenges.
Congrats to Sitka, AK, on being 1 of 5 communities across the U.S. to receive the 2019 @RJWF Culture of Health Prize! Sitka recognizes that health goes beyond healthcare—it's also the presence of economic opportunity, a safe living environment, a sense of well-being, & much more.
