Why have they refused? Well, some people, (certainly not me!) would speculate that it's because the chairman of the NCGOP has donated thousands of dollars to my incumbent opponent. Or maybe it's less personal, and the NCGOP simply just a Incumbent Protection Racket.

Now, the GOP could step in and clear this thing up. They could send their General Counsel to the SBE and say "look, the law is vague, and was never intended to keep our Pete off the ballot." But they've utterly refused.
