Jon Cordova, who initially joined HHS in February 2017 as part of the Office of the White House Liaison, currently serves as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration, providing direct support to the Assistant Secretary for Administration for HHS and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Human Relations, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Office of Security and Strategic Information, Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance and Operations Office and the Program Support Center. He is responsible for the development and management of the department’s operational plan, transformational recommendations and coordinating performance across ASA. Prior to joining HHS, Cordova spent nearly 4 decades gaining diverse private sector experience, primarily in emerging technologies and organizational transformation. He was part of two of largest American organizational transformations in the divestiture of the Bell System and the IPO of Lucent Technologies – Bell Laboratories Innovation. Both efforts changed the technology landscape and enable many of today’s innovations including ubiquitous web access, microchip development and artificial intelligence. In addition, Cordova is a business quality professional and was a judge, examiner and award winner for AT&T Bell Laboratories President Malcolm Baldrige Award. He has leveraged these experiences in several Silicon Valley startups and has successfully led emerging companies to acquisition or merger. He is an expert in guiding innovation into market success and defining business value. Cordova is a native Californian and has Bachelor of Science in Business Economics from University of California at Los Angeles, and has done advanced studies at University of Michigan. He is married to Janet, who is also technology professional, and has three adult children.
