Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation
The Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation established this prestigious statewide award in 1958 to honor professors for their dedication to the teaching profession and for their outstanding overall achievement. Each two-year and four-year college and university in Texas may submit only one nominee annually and each May the Foundation selects 10 winners from the entire state. Each "Piper Professor" designation comes with a certificate, gold pin, and a $ award. UTEP's internal review process for this award is currently coordinated by the Faculty Senate's Teaching Effectiveness and Development Committee.
May 2, 2016 is the official date for public announcement of the award. The nomination form (and associated email communications) took the equivalent of about a day. The award comes with a payment of exactly $. As mentioned before, the amount of time spent on the application was minimal (most of which had been done in a previous year) and my winning contributed to raising UTEP's visibility and prestige.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.
