tutoring of an EPISD high school student in precalculus; because my role at UTEP includes working with present and future teachers in our local schools, this tutoring will keep me that much more current
the number of hours was well within what I estimated and what was approved the compensation rate and total were well within the range that I estimated when successfully obtaining prior approval The person I tutored is not a UTEP student or paid employee, so there is no conflict of interest. The tutoring occurred at a private residence. As explained previously, this activity does not interfere with but actually reinforces my work at UTEP by not only keeping me fresh on mathematical content that I have not taught for years, but also keeping me current on issues related to curriculum and the learning of this content by students in a major local district (EPISD) where many of our graduates teach. And, as also already explained, the amount of time involved would be quite minimal -- less than many people might spend in a week by, say, preparing meals or attending a UTEP football game. The tutoring occurred on Sundays or during evenings -- i.e., not during normal business hours.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
