Reverse-Engineering the 2012 Campaign

I will be outspent

--

I will be the first president in modern history to be outspent in his

re-election campaign, if things continue as they have so far.

I'm not just talking about the super PACs and anonymous outside groups --

I'm talking about the Romney campaign itself. Those outside groups just add

even more to the underlying problem.

The Romney campaign raises more than we do, and the math isn't hard to

understand: Through the primaries, we raised almost three-quarters of our

money from donors giving less than $X while Mitt Romney's campaign

raised more than three-quarters of its money from individuals giving $X

or more.

And, again, that's not including the massive outside spending by super PACs

and front groups funneling up to an additional billion dollars into ads

trashing me, you, and everything we believe in.

We can be outspent and still win -- but we can't be outspent 10 to 1 and

still win.

More than 2.2 million Americans have already chipped in for us, and I'm so

grateful for it. As we face this week's fundraising deadline, can you make

a donation of $X or more

today?

Because you've saved your payment information, your donation will go

through immediately:

Or donate another

amount.

Every donation you make today automatically enters you to join Michelle and

me for one of the last grassroots dinners of this campaign. You've already

entered -- thank you so much -- and today is your last chance to get your

name in again.

These dinners represent how we do things differently. My opponent spent

this past weekend at a secretive retreat for the biggest donors to both his

campaign and the super PACs that support him.

I've got other responsibilities I'm attending to.

Let's touch base on Wednesday

Four years ago, we made history together.

Now, as we head into the home stretch of this election, I wanted to touch base with folks like you, who were integral to electing Barack Obama president of the United States.

This Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. Eastern Time, I'm getting on the phone with some of the President's earliest supporters -- and I'd like you to be on it. You'll get a look inside the 2012 campaign, and we'll talk about some of the challenges we're facing and the progress we've made since 2008.

RSVP here to hold your place on the call.

There's no question that this is a different ballgame than 2008, not least because now there's no limit to what the other side can spend to defeat the President. That kind of influence in the hands of unaccountable, and in many cases anonymous, outside donors puts our democracy in a very tenuous position.

That's why President Obama is counting more than ever on the amazing grassroots organization you built in 2008.

On the call, we'll talk about the importance of your role in this election, where we're going from here, and how we're going to create an economy built to last in the President's second term. I'll also answer some of your questions.

Please RSVP now to join me and other supporters on Wednesday, June 27th, at 7:15 p.m. Eastern Time:

[url]

Once you RSVP, you'll receive a confirmation and information about how to call in on Wednesday.

Talk to you soon,

David

P.S. -- Just like in 2008, this campaign is built entirely by people like you. You can help finish what we started by donating today.

all the way up to midnight tonight, when the campaign will randomly select

Two points

The only sure thing about this fall’s elections is that if we don’t act

now, we will lose.

Polls show two points separating President Obama and Mitt Romney. 12 Senate

races are polling within single digits. We cannot, must not, will not, let

Republicans drag our country down.

We’re 96 hours from the campaign’s most important end-of-quarter

deadline.Either we raise $X.4 million to protect the President and

Democratic

candidates, or we hand everything over to Karl Rove’s GOP extremists.

Click here to contribute $X before the campaign’s most critical

end-of-quarter deadline.

Republicans are hungry for a GOP takeover. Defeating progressive champions

like Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown will put them so close they can

taste it.

If we keep letting them outspend us 3-to-1, we’re handing them runaway

momentum. We’ve got to fight back, and we’ve only got 96 hours left.

Click now to contribute $X:

President Obama and Democrats nationwide depend on your immediate support.

The next few months will be bruising. Super PAC cash will fund brutal

attacks on President Obama and Democratic candidates. I really need your

help to fight back.

Yes, you

Roger R.,

The race for the White House is a dead heat. Great Democrats like Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown are  getting swarmed with negative ads. Karl Rove and the Koch brothers are using their billionaire donor network to drown out your voice.

So, yeah, this a big moment. Like, a history book kind of moment. And you – yes, you – have a job to do right now.

Your job is to protect President Obama and the Democratic champions who are under attack. Believe me, there's no one else who’s going to do it but you.

Without your $5 contribution, the DSCC can’t hit its $1.4 million goal by midnight Saturday – and tied races will turn into uncontrollable deficits real fast. See, the other side doesn’t have much use for grassroots organizing. They rely on groups with phony sounding names, but should be called, “Anonymous Billionaires for Destroying the President,” that do nothing but sling trash at President Obama and Democrats.

But when it comes time for our side to fight back, just about all we have is grassroots support. Last month, 99% of the DSCC’s contributions came from grassroots supporters. People who aren’t billionaires. People like you.

That kind of grassroots support can break this tie – but only if everyone joins this fight today.

Have you helped us get to our $1.4 million goal? We’ve only got 4 days left to get there – so click here right now and contribute $5 to help President Obama and the Democrats fight back against Rove and the Koch brothers.

We’ve got a tie ballgame on our hands. We’ve got a President and a bunch of great candidates out there fighting for working families. We’ve got Rove and the Koch brothers sounds like the worst doo-wop group of all time throwing mud by the millions.

And you’ve got a job to do. Thanks for stepping up.

I'm still fighting

This is deeply personal for me.

I’ve been marching and preaching and fighting for voting rights for over 50

years. Today, we’re seeing a deliberate and systematic effort on the part

of Republican officials to prevent minorities, seniors, the young, and the

poor from casting their ballots.

Republican Governors like Florida’s Rick Scott and Wisconsin’s Scott Walker

are trying to steal this election even before it takes place.

Will you stand with me and donate $X or more to the DCCC’s Voter

Protection Fund?

Voting is precious, almost sacred. It’s the most powerful instrument that

we have in a democratic society. We need to move quickly to launch voter

education programs and counter the powerful interests that are endangering

our basic rights.

Too many courageous people have fought to secure the vote. Don’t let it be

taken away:

As communications director of the DNC, I'm on the road a lot that's what

you get for a career in politics.

But I have to tell you, hands down one of my favorite people to be on

the road with is our Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

She's tough, funny, and one of the sharpest political minds I know.

So if you enter to fly out to D.C. and have lunch with her, I promise

you'll have a good time.

Don't miss your chance to meet the woman Barack Obama chose to run the

party while he is in the White House. Just pitch in $X or whatever you can

to be automatically entered to win that trip today.

Before Debbie was the DNC Chair, I'd seen her take Republicans head on in

Congress. I've seen her nail exactly what Democrats are fighting for on TV

and in speeches across the country.

And she's not afraid to cast tough votes in Congress the ones that

aren't always popular, but the ones that are right.

If you make a donation today, you'll be directly helping Democrats in races

across the country from the smallest congressional race up to re-electing

President Obama before our critical quarterly fundraising deadline on

Saturday.

And you'll also be automatically entered to win a trip to Washington, D.C.

to sit down for a meal and talk politics with our Chair.

I wouldn't pass this one up. Get your name in the mix today:
