OFA supporter newsletter: The final weeks
|
I wanted to fill you in on what's happening around the country -- thanks to your generous support.
Soon we'll know what we can do in the final three weeks. This Saturday, important decisions will be made about how we'll distribute resources, how many final field offices we can open, and how many organizers we can bring on board in the last leg of this campaign.
Before that happens, here's a look at what we've already built together:
1. The road to November 6th
Watch this inspiring video from the campaign trail: Vice President Biden rallying supporters in Virginia, President Obama energizing the Bowling Green community in Ohio, and the First Lady Michelle Obama and an entire marching band marking the first day of voting in Iowa. Check it out here:
[url]
2. Voter registration efforts
This week, several states run up against voter registration deadlines, so volunteers and organizers on the ground are working overtime to get as many voters registered as possible. While thousands of people every day check their status with our online tool, passionate volunteers and organizers are going door to door. Check out the latest stories here:
[url]
3. 30,000 supporters gather in Madison, WI, to see the President
"Wow" is the first thing I hear when I show folks this panoramic photograph of the President in Wisconsin. Last Thursday, a sea of people fired up to support Barack Obama gathered on the usually quiet Bascom Hill at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and this photo of the event has already gone viral -- see it for yourself and share it with your friends here:
[url]
4. Mitt Romney's misleading claims about his tax plan
Lately, Governor Romney has kept our Truth Team busy around the clock. At the debate, he misled the American people about his tax plan and its harmful impact on the middle class. Despite the fact that multiple independent experts and fact-checkers have debunked Romney's claims, he continues to ignore the facts and just say whatever he thinks will win the moment. We're not buying it. Watch these Truth Team videos, and then share them with your friends and colleagues:
[url]
5. Milestone: 10 million donations from grassroots supporters like you
This number is incredible -- and a record in politics. More than 1 in 100 Americans have chipped in to build this organization. And with 10 million donations so far in 2012, we've proved that our democracy isn't for sale to a few billionaires and special interests. Thanks for being part of that, Going local with the President's accomplishments
Did you know that 201,700 private sector jobs were created in Ohio from February 2010 to August 2012? The campaign has put together an interactive online tool to visualize what these numbers really mean for Americans at the local level. You can travel through a virtual United States and see how Barack Obama has helped your state or community. Check it out here:
[url]
7. The National Call Team is reaching thousands of voters a day
The National Call Team is a growing online presence. Whether it's 5 calls a day or 500, volunteers across the country are having the one-on-one conversations that will help re-elect President Obama. It's exciting to be a part of, and a great way to further your involvement in this campaign. If you haven't already -- join the National Call Team today:

There's a lot of work to do, and it'll be a tough few weeks.
We'll win this election if we keep up the momentum and never lose sight of our goal. Thank you for everything you're doing to support this campaign.
This race will stay close until the very end, and we have to stay focused.
I'll be in touch,
Jen

The only way Mitt Romney beats Barack Obama...
|
In two days, when I shake Paul Ryan's hand onstage before the vice presidential debate, his side will be halfway through a $X million week-long ad blitz attacking Barack in 10 battleground states.
Our organizers on the ground are going to be busy counteracting that.
But the fact is our organizing depends on budgets and those budgets depend on you, right now. This campaign needs to make critical decisions this week, and with just 28 days to go, there's no "I'll get to it later."
Can you donate $X or more today, and make sure our folks on the ground have the resources they need to get this done?
[url]
The only way someone like Mitt Romney -- who gets fact-checked by his own campaign on his health care plan, thinks Sesame Street deserves tougher treatment than Wall Street, and wrote off half of the country when he thought no one was listening -- beats someone like Barack Obama is if you and I don't step it up when it really matters.
Because Barack and I cannot do this alone.
We need you and it's always been that way.
It's more important now than at any point in this campaign that our grassroots organization is strong and ready to fight alongside us. Your donation helps more now, when we're making some of the most important budget decisions in this race, than it can later.
If you can, please donate $X or more today:

Thanks for everything, seriously.

|
Obama - Biden --
What are you doing next Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time?
Whatever it is, change your plans, because I've got a better idea: Host a watch party on your campus for the second presidential debate on October 16th.
Debates are incredibly fun to watch as a group. There's a lot to talk about and people get really into it. It's also a great opportunity to get your campus buzzing about this campaign and President Obama with just a few weeks left until Election Day.
We'll connect you with all the resources you'll need. All you have to do is find a place to watch the debate, then get your friends to come.
Watch parties are happening on campuses all across the country, but there's still an opening for someone to host one at your school. Will you step up and take the lead?

We must fight
|
Romney-Ryan is at a crossroads. We have a choice: four more years of the same hardship and decline, or a new path.
The American people want jobs. They want leadership they can believe in. They want our great nation to prosper again.
And they want someone who'll fight for them -- and alongside them.
I will fight for America's comeback. And I'm willing to fight for it, because I believe we are at our best when individuals are allowed to pursue their dreams.
And I believe that on November 6th, Americans will rise to the occasion. America will fix what needs fixing. Help me win this fight. Donate $X now -- so we can win this election.
Thank you,
Mitt Romney

How you can help
|
We must make Barack Obama a one-term president. It's that simple. And it's through supporters like you that we will.
Election Day is just four weeks away, and every effort you make until then will take us one step closer to victory. In 2012, volunteers have made 4 times more phone calls than they had at the same time in the 2008 campaign. Victory volunteers have knocked on 13 times as many doors than they had at the same time in the 2008 campaign -- nearly three times as many doors than the entire 2008 campaign combined. Since the national absentee and early voting turnout program began, volunteers have made more than 18 million volunteer voter contacts.
President Obama has failed to lead on every issue -- health care, debt, taxes, foreign policy, and most importantly jobs. Twenty-three million Americans are struggling for work, and the President's greatest accomplishment has been adding more people to the government dole than ever before.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have a plan for a real recovery, and with your help, we will ensure a Republican win on November 6.
Please [url] donate today , or find out how you can help by [url] making phone calls to crucial swing state voters.

I won't mince words: If we're going to win this thing, we need everyone to double-down on their efforts.
The Republicans and their Super PACs are flooding the airwaves with false and misleading ads in swing states across the country. If we sit idly by while President Obama and Democrats nationwide are under attack, then we'll lose.
This election is too close -- and too important -- for anyone to sit on the sidelines.
Will you donate $X or whatever you can before tomorrow's ad-buy deadline to help us fight back against Republican attacks?
The next 4 weeks will decide the outcome of this election.
If we win, it will be because of what you did at moments like this. I hope you'll join us.

BREAKING: Boehner's Super PAC allies throw in $X.5 million to save their Republican majority
Speaker Boehner has hit the panic button. This morning, we learned that Boehner's Super PAC buddies are going to dump /"an avalanche of cash into congressional races in an attempt to protect the House GOP majority."/
President Obama needs a Democratic majority in the House -- and we can make it happen. A new poll shows us leading the race for Congress by 1 point.
But first, we have to close this spending gap before tomorrow's ad buy deadline.
Will you donate $X or more before tomorrow's ad buy deadline to win a Democratic House for President Obama?
Let's do this,

NEW POLL: Democrats lead 47-46 in the race for Congress
the race for the House couldn't be much tighter. On Election Night, it could come down to one or two seats.
But the choice we face in the next 24 hours could decide it all.
This morning, POLITICO reported that Boehner's Super PAC allies are "dumping an avalanche of cash into congressional races in an attempt to protect the House GOP majority." If we're going to fight back in enough races to win the House, we have to raise $X in the next 24 hours to close the spending gap.
Will you chip in $X or whatever you can to win a Democratic majority for President Obama?
In total, these Republican Super PACs plan to spend nearly $X.5 million hitting Democrats in the closest races in the country. When the polls close on November 6th, I don't want to have that sinking feeling that we didn't do everything we could to close the spending gap when it mattered.
Please chip in what you can to help us fight back:

Boehner, Cantor and the Republicans have just launched a massive 27-district ad blitz hitting Democrats in the closest races in the country. Now, we're up against potentially the most important ad buy deadline of this election.

Joe Biden vs. Paul Ryan
|
The Democratic Party -----------------------
On Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden will debate Rep. Paul Ryan -- the man responsible for a budget that would turn Medicare into a voucher program, cut Medicaid, and raise taxes on the middle class while giving $X trillion in tax cuts skewed to millionaires and billionaires.
We'll see a clear choice up on that stage. President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Democratic candidates across the country are fighting to give everyone the health care they need, strengthen the middle class, and create jobs.
Exactly four weeks from today, we'll know which way this country will go -- forward or back.
I won't lie to you: We've got quite a fight ahead of us in the next 28 days. Every donation counts.

Everything we've been building for is here. Our field teams are firing on all cylinders and our volunteers are turning out in force. People are already voting in some states. Critical races are coming down to the wire. And it's all over in four weeks. In other words, we need to work our hearts out. But sometimes I have to make tough budget decisions just because we don't have the resources to say "yes." Every single dollar right now is critical -- your support means we can do more, and those decisions are being made right now. Please donate $X or more today so we can finish this strong:

At the debate, Mitt Romney looked the American public in the eye and said: "I do have a plan that deals with people with pre-existing conditions. That's part of my health care plan."
His campaign quietly admitted afterwards that, no, it is not, in fact, a part of his health care plan.
As a breast cancer survivor and someone living with a pre-existing condition, this statement was more personally offensive than any of his repeated promises to repeal Obamacare. This kind of say-anything dishonesty is typical from Mitt Romney and the Republicans.
You can do something. Please give $X or more today to help Democrats set the record straight about Romney and his allies. Voters need to know.
When the other side makes empty, dishonest promises like this one, it's not only the worst kind of politics, it's toying with real people's lives.
As a cancer survivor, I know just how much we used to be at the mercy of insurance providers. Obamacare protects us from unfair practices like lifetime caps on your coverage, denial of coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and being dropped from your policy exactly when you need it most. Mitt Romney will take that all away but when he's asked point-blank about it, he won't admit it.
We deserve better. But we need to work harder than ever for it.
Time to suit up and fight back. Please donate $X or more today let's stand together and keep Mitt Romney and Republicans in Congress away from our health care:

polling: deadlocked races

With Karl Rove dumping $X million more into five deadlocked Senate races, I have a poll update: Scott Brown-48, Elizabeth Warren-45.
We're 28 days out, and Mitt's polling bounce and Rove's fortune are lifting Senate Republicans. In the next 24 hours, they could take an insurmountable lead; and we would lose the entire Senate by a single seat.
