Today I learned my two favorite shopkeepers, small business owners I rely on for basic necessities, don't even live in our city, let alone our neighborhood. San Francisco needs to become a city where the people we depend on can work as close to their own homes as we do to ours.

And no, I'm not surprised; this isn't an unusual arrangement. But it's time to ask, do we have to continue this cycle, or can we do better to open up the city with more co-location and less commuting?

@edwardwrightsf That's fair, and you certainly go back farther than me in politics. And that's think you do a great job, for the record, to give the best to both callings. Just coming in this year in the aftermath, it seems like there's no appetite to take up the fight—on any side.
