I may be just one "old Millennial" but I want America's youth to know this: I (and so many others) believe in you. We believe in your future. We believe that you have so much to learn, love, and experience.

that sees its future as ominous and life itself as a burden, rather than a blessing; a road to pain and suffering, rather than love and amazement.

Too often, youth today hear adults telling them that Earth will be "uninhabitable", that human civilization will "crumble", and that maybe it "isn't OK to have kids" at all. These arguments are not only counterproductive, they are a superhighway to an anxious generation.

I coach my kindergartener's soccer team and one of the most amazing and inspiring things about 5-6 year olds is their joy at building relationships, making friends, and *being together*. This is who human beings are. It is deep in our bones and modernity has alienated us from it.

As a member of the @TrumanProject I have learned first-hand from experts (many of whom served our country with honor in uniform) about the need to organize progressives on issues of national security and foreign policy. 6/x

I reject the isolationism that has recurred across American history. The oceans that buffet our shores do not absolve us from our responsibility to lead on the world stage on everything from climate and public health to diplomacy and defending democracy. 2/x

One challenge is the very phrase "foreign policy" suggests something far away from the everyday experience of Americans, when the truth is that global instability has substantial consequences on our lives, from the price at the pump to our ability to export products abroad. 7/x
