Biggest stock market since the depression seems like a kind of strange time for a government shut down. Don’t get me wrong shut downs are always stupid but there are degrees and this is world class.

On the Senate floor, there are high school kids, called Pages, who get us water if we ask. They have a chart for each member and whether they like ice, sparkling, or flat. Our country ought to be able to prevent a 7 year old from dying of dehydration.
It may be politically unpalatable but we should have the taxpayers pay for the party conventions and the inaugurations. We will save many times the amount spent in special interest favors not given.
