2) I spoke to small business managers/owners about growing homelessness coinciding with NYC’s mental health crisis. They don’t want to call the police on homeless encampments but also don’t know what to do when an unhoused person is in mental distress and threatening a customer.

3)These small business managers, owners, and staff want an alternative way of aiding people who are in mental distress without the worry of them getting brutalized, locked up, thrown into solitary confinement, and harming themselves. We need another option outside of the police.

4) Adam’s short term “solution” for unhoused people doesn’t solve anything. Merely moving people off the street, attempting to put them in shelters where they don’t feel safe, is not a solution. It’s like giving someone a glass of water to cross the Sahara desert, it’s not enough

5) I know Adams has put a task force together to try to tackle affordable housing but he’s also made austerity cuts to vital services in our city budget. That doesn’t help reduce homelessness— it exacerbates it.

4b) It’s also in-humane, insulting, and condescending. Which seems to be the Adam’s administrations motto.
