18 USC § 595 makes it a crime for a person employed by a US Dept or agency from using “official authority for the purpose of interfering with, or affecting…the election of any candidate for the office of President”. Does this apply to the former President? We’re looking into it. QT @sgurman: “Just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. Six months, the forever impeached former President incited an insurrection. 140 police officers were injured, some severely. Multiple people died. As a former prosecutor, I disagree with Bruce Castor’s promise not to prosecute Bill Cosby in exchange for Cosby to testify. But once that agreement was made, it was wrong for prosecutors to then prosecute Cosby. The government should not violate 5th Amendment rights, period. Dear @USCCB: I’m Catholic and you are hypocrites. You did not rebuke the former President when his Administration expanded killing human beings with the death penalty. It’s a welcome first step that AG Garland referred the Trump DOJ subpoena scandal to the Inspector Generals. But the IG has no jurisdiction over former employees like Barr and Sessions (and soon to be former employee John Demers). This is why the House needs to hold hearings.
