Auto Safety Assurance Act of 2001 - Amends Federal transportation law to direct the Secretary of Transportation to prescribe an amendment to the Federal Motor Vehicle Standard 206 issued under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1966 requiring all passenger cars manufactured after December 31, 2003, to be fitted with equipment which automatically locks the vehicle's doors when the vehicle transmission is engaged or the vehicle...
