Bill Summary

Ginseng Truth in Labeling Act of 2001 - Requires: (1) persons selling ginseng (as defined by this Act) as a raw agricultural commodity to disclose its country of origin to purchasers; and (2) importers of ginseng to disclose its country of origin at the point of U.S. entry. Exempts retailers from additional labeling if the ginseng is appropriately labeled by the packer or importer. Authorizes the Secretary of Agriculture to impose penalties...
