Lisa E. Gordon-Hagerty is president and chief executive officer of LEG Inc., a consulting firm providing strategic advice and counsel in domestic and national security, global energy issues, counterterrorism, crisis and consequence management, strategic planning and assessment, and homeland security. Since 2003, Mrs. Gordon-Hagerty served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of USEC Inc., a leading supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. In that role, she was responsible for USEC’s day-to-day operations, including oversight of production, regulatory affairs, advanced technology and its wholly-owned subsidiary, NAC International which specialized in nuclear materials transport, spent fuel storage and transport technologies, nuclear fuel cycle consulting, and fuel cycle information services. In 1998, Mrs. Gordon-Hagerty joined the White House National Security Council (NSC) staff, as director for combating terrorism, overseeing and coordinating U.S. Government activities to deter, disrupt, prevent, and respond fully to conventional, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear terrorist attacks, through research and development, special operations, intelligence, and exercises/contingency planning. Prior to joining the White House NSC staff, Mrs. Gordon-Hagerty served for six years as the U.S. Department of Energy’s Director, Office of Emergency Response, leading efforts for emergency preparedness and technical/operational emergency response to all radiological or nuclear events, and as Acting Director, Office of Weapons Surety, responsible for the safety and security of the country’s nuclear weapons program. Greene began his Congressional service in 1995 as a speechwriter for the House Republican Conference during the initial 100 days of the Contract with America. David S. Jonas (JD ‘81) wears many hats. From being a partner at Fluet, Herbert & Hoang to serving on a variety of nonprofit boards, Jonas is expected to become the next general counsel for the Department of Energy. Trump announced his intent to nominate some key positions in his Administration, Jonas being among the nominees. “Dave not only brings tremendous legal expertise but also experience serving on nonprofit boards,” said William Smith, chairman of the board of directors of the Young Marines where Jonas serves. Prior to joining Fluet, Huber & Hoang, Jonas was General Counsel of both the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board. His extensive knowledge and experience in national security issues has made him one of the few experts worldwide in nuclear nonproliferation law. He served over 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was appointed to the board of directors of the Young Marines in June 2016. Jonas is an adjunct professor at Georgetown and George Washington University Law Schools.
