Mr. Stewart, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, is an experienced contracting, intellectual property (IP) and legal professional currently serving as the Special Assistant, Executive Secretariat, Office of the Secretary, at the U.S. Department of Labor. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Cambria County Republican Committee and as the Field Organizer for Cambria County, PA, for the Republican National Committee. Prior to that, Mr. Stewart served as a Senior Contracts Administrator for Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) in Johnstown, PA, where he also served on CTC's Intellectual Property Committee. His duties at CTC for 10+ years consisted of various facets of business development, contract performance, organizational development, financial performance, drafting and negotiating strategic agreements, and intellectual property portfolio management and licensing. He has experience with U.S. federal, state and local government contracts, commercial contracts, and international transactions. Furthermore, Mr. Stewart served as a Contributing Analyst with Wikistrat where he developed and collaborated on geopolitical analysis. Prior to that, Mr. Stewart spent two summers as an Intellectual Property Intern at Northrop Grumman Corporation, Electronic Systems sector, in Baltimore, MD. Mr. Stewart is Past President of the Greater Johnstown National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Chapter. He further serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Community Arts Center of Cambria County, as well as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Easter Seals Western and Central Pennsylvania Cambria/Somerset Division. Mr. Stewart is Past Chairman of the Church Council and Past Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Grove Avenue United Methodist Church. The Holland & Knight associate just recently arrived to DOL’s policy office as a senior counsel and policy adviser, per his LinkedIn profile. He was once chair of BYU College Republicans and then attended Harvard Law, where he was a member of—you guessed it—the Federalist Society.

Previously, Jon served as Legislative Counsel to Senator Mark Kirk where he focused on Appropriations Committee responsibilities, successfully led the reform of an important federal railroad loan program, and facilitated the enactment of significant water infrastructure legislation. Jon also served as Counsel to Congressman Mike Coffman, the Chairman of the House Veterans' Affairs Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, where he helped uncover the VA patient wait list crisis that led to the $16 billion Veteran Access to Care Act. Prior to his Congressional staff experience, Jon served honorably as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Jon's military service included assignments in Quantico, VA, Newport, RI, and at the Pentagon in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate to the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jon earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Michigan State University and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law. Jon currently lives in Springfield, Virginia with his wife and daughter.
