Previously, Jon served as Legislative Counsel to Senator Mark Kirk where he focused on Appropriations Committee responsibilities, successfully led the reform of an important federal railroad loan program, and facilitated the enactment of significant water infrastructure legislation. Jon also served as Counsel to Congressman Mike Coffman, the Chairman of the House Veterans' Affairs Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, where he helped uncover the VA patient wait list crisis that led to the $16 billion Veteran Access to Care Act. Prior to his Congressional staff experience, Jon served honorably as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Jon's military service included assignments in Quantico, VA, Newport, RI, and at the Pentagon in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate to the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jon earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Michigan State University and his law degree from DePaul University College of Law.
