Host a party for the convention

I hope you haven't nailed down your plans for September 6th yet. It's the night that President Obama will accept the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina -- and, for our movement, it's a chance to get together across the country to hear his acceptance speech and get energized for the final stretch. Folks in every state are going to be hosting watch parties and spending the evening with some friends and neighbors.

Will you host a watch party on September 6th to give folks in Washington a place to watch the President together?

[url] I can't wait for this year's convention, and I know from talking with our field organizers and volunteers that I'm not alone.

I bet you're already planning ahead to watch the speech. Whether you invite just a few friends or open your home to some new folks from your neighborhood, hosting one of these parties is a great way to make an impact for the campaign at the same time.

it's an opportunity to see some rising stars in the Democratic Party, and connect about what direction we want our country to go. Hosting a watch party will help your neighbors come together and be a part of that conversation. When folks who are a part of this movement meet up and talk, we come up with the best ideas to get people organized and engaged in the political process -- and we get energized to make it happen. Plus, events like these are one of our best ways to bring new people into this organization, and encourage those who are already involved to step up even more. When the convention is over, we'll have two short months until the last vote is cast -- so the party you throw is going to play an important part in growing our get-out-the-vote efforts in Washington at a critical time. Don't be shy about stepping up to host. I promise it'll be easy, and we'll equip you with a set of host materials and a training, as well as some ways to connect with other hosts to swap tips and ideas as you prepare. This is going to be a big night for us all. No one should be on the sidelines. So make sure folks in Washington have a place to connect for the convention on September 6th and hear President Obama's acceptance speech. Plan to host a watch party: [url]

Why Romney's VP pick matters

Obama - Biden

Mitt Romney's VP pick matters to women for so many important reasons.

Right now, we're having debates that we already had decades ago. We can't let these two men drag us back to the policies of the 1950s.

Read on to see exactly where Paul Ryan stands on the issues that matter most to women, then protect our rights -- join Women for Obama today to fight back.

Let me tell you a little more about the man who, if we don't stop him, could be a heartbeat away from the presidency.

In his time in the House of Representatives, Rep. Ryan cast 59 anti-choice votes on abortion and reproductive-rights issues. He's committed to banning abortions, even for women who are the victims of incest and rape. Ryan co-sponsored the bill that would have allowed employers in public and private sectors the power to deny women birth control coverage if they had a moral or religious objection.

Rep. Ryan is also the co-sponsor of a truly radical bill that would define "personhood" as beginning at conception -- which could outlaw not just abortion, but many forms of birth control, including the pill. This kind of legislation is so far outside the mainstream, even socially conservative Mississippi voters rejected it.

Like Romney, Ryan wants to tear down Obamacare in its entirety, including specific benefits for women, like copay-free birth control and increased access to preventive health care services like cancer screenings and well-woman exams.

And the Ryan budget that Republicans are so proud of? It dismantles Medicaid and Medicare as we know them.

We've already fought and won these battles. But if the Romney-Ryan ticket takes the White House, we'll lose all of the progress we've made.

We can't let that happen.

There is too much at stake for women for us to stay quiet. Step up and fight today by joining Women for Obama:

Mitt Romney says our campaign is one of "division and anger and hate."

Funny. When I travel to our field offices throughout the states, here's the sort of thing I see:

"A campaign of hate"? I see the opposite

Obama - Biden Cherrine

While his campaign pours tens of millions of dollars into negative TV ads that independent fact-checkers continue to prove false, Mitt Romney's in Ohio complaining about ... negativity!

Last night, he railed against the campaign that you and I have built from the ground up, calling it a "campaign of division and anger and hate."

I'm working with volunteers and organizers on the ground and on the phone every day in the campaign, and I'm seeing and hearing the opposite.

While Mitt Romney diagnoses the President with everything from anger, to desperation, to being "intellectually exhausted," we're building the best damn grassroots program this country has ever seen. And we're having a great time doing it.

Can you lend a hand? Chip in $X or more today to help build our grassroots movement.

It's not division that brings young high school students together with the 70-year-old grandmothers on their local neighborhood team in Virginia.

It's not hatred that inspires volunteers to celebrate a field office opening in North Carolina with homemade cookies.

The diverse groups of supporters who come together in neighborhoods across the country are doing it for one reason: Because they believe in working together and leaving our country better than we found it.

I bet you have a reason for getting involved, too. If you can, please chip in to keep this campaign going in the critical last months:

[url]

Romney's ads are 90 percent negative, and many are debunked almost as soon as they're aired. While we can't underestimate the effect that tens of millions of dollars pouring into key states can have, the way we win is never going to change: We're focusing on the grassroots, every day.

Thanks for standing for what's really important,

Jeremy

Obama - Biden --

This week, Mitt Romney was asked, "If you were to start a business today, what would it be?"

Without missing a beat, Romney touted the oil and gas industry.

Makes sense, since if he and Paul Ryan win this election their budget would send $X billion in tax subsidies to the oil and gas industry in the next 10 years alone. In that same budget? Clean energy investments slashed drastically.

It's like they're not even trying to hide whose side they're on, or why. We're not hiding whose side we're on either: yours.

Donate $X or more today to do your part to continue moving our country forward.

The United States of America is not a business.

The fact that Romney is willing to roll back the progress we've made in the clean energy sector and put tens of thousands of jobs at risk, while pandering to his Big Oil donors and advisors is sadly unsurprising. It's exactly how he behaved in the private sector: Do whatever it takes to maximize your profits in the short-term and then get out before you suffer the consequences.

That's not a viable path for our country, and anyone who believes in it is not the kind of person we want in the Oval Office. President Obama has a real plan for America's future -- one that doesn't sacrifice tomorrow for the sake of today.

Donate $X or more now so we can keep building a stronger future:

Obama’s $716 billion Medicare cuts

To view this email as a web page, go here.

Three years ago today, President Obama promised to ensure Medicare would "be there for the next generation."

Yet, ironically, President Obama, with the help of his liberal allies, cut Medicare by over $X billion to pay for Obamacare -- a travesty his campaign now is touting as an achievement.

Seniors will be hit with higher costs and fewer benefits because of Obamacare's Medicare cuts. Beginning in 2013, Obamacare will cut over $X billion from Medicare Advantage, a vital program that benefits one in four seniors.

And Obamacare created the Independent Payment Advisory Board to create even steeper cuts in Medicare benefits, which could lead to reduced access to care.

All of this is just wrong -- and the Romney-Ryan and Republican team's plan to preserve, protect, and strengthen Medicare would make things right.

Learn the truth about Medicare under Obama and how he's failing seniors.

ASAP

--

This could cost us the election.

The Romney campaign is up with a new ad campaign trying to confuse voters into thinking that Republicans are the ones trying to protect Medicare.

You and I know that Romney and Paul Ryan are dead set on slashing seniors' Medicare benefits to pay for more millionaire tax breaks -- but we have to get the facts out to voters immediately.

Stand with President Obama: Donate $X or more to help us fight Republican attacks and set the record straight

Our polls show that if voters have the facts, we'll win. But now we're facing millions of dollars in dishonest attacks distorting President Obama's record. We have to get our own ads on the air and organizers on the ground ASAP to set the record straight.

Please donate $X or whatever you can to back up President Obama with a Democratic majority:

Bar, destroy, outlaw

When Mitt Romney chose Tea Party darling Paul Ryan as his running mate, he put the extremists one step closer to running this country into the ground.

If Romney and Ryan take the White House and Senate, the Tea Party fringe will control our entire government. Threats to bar abortion, destroy Medicare, and outlaw contraception will become real.

That's why we're launching the Stop Ryan Fund. We must add $X by MIDNIGHT FRIDAY because everyone—EVERYONE—is watching to see if Romney and Ryan will raise enough to pull ahead. Can you give $X?

We can't let the Tea Party oust President Obama and take over our country. Stop them: [url]
