This afternoon, I chaired a hearing of the @HouseForeign Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere on strengthening security and rule of law in Mexico. The current level of violence is unacceptable.
We must work to improve our assistance to Mexico and address drivers of violence on both sides of our border.
I thank @MeyerMC from @WOLA, @Shirktwit from the University of San Diego and @RMiles_CSIS from @CSIS for their expert testimony. See my full statement here: https://t.co/zsdtKOsZRF
This morning, I attended a @HouseForeign hearing on Iran policy. Experts examined U.S. policy towards Iran in light of recent events and discussed ways that we can move forward.

Yesterday, I met with the Deputy Ambassador of India Amit Kumar. We discussed the importance of the relationship between India and the U.S.
If the Senate was truly interested in taking action to help Americans, they would bring forward and pass some of the common-sense legislation we have sent them from the House.
Since the beginning of the year, my colleagues and I have passed legislation to raise the minimum wage, close dangerous loopholes in the gun background check system, help ensure equal rights, and provide disaster relief for American’s in need.
@HouseDemocrats have passed numerous pieces of legislation #ForThePeople that @senatemajldr refuses to bring to a vote in the Senate. The only person putting the Government’s necessary business aside is leader McConnell. QT @senatemajldr: Critical legislation is currently frozen in place. Casualties of Democrats’ apparent inability to make headway on a… https://t.co/afvu4ZRxJR)
Previously I wrote out a detailed op-ed outlining some of these bills. You can read it here: https://t.co/wUugKN0gDW

It is beyond frustrating to watch these events occur without any concrete action to prevent them. I call on @Senmajldr to bring House passed gun control legislation to the Senate floor for a vote. The safety of the American people is our primary duty!
@SecretaryAcosta's press conference did not address any of the concerns with his poor judgement RE Epstein. It was wrong then and it's wrong now. That is why I joined @RepSpeier's letter calling for Acosta's resignation. QT @RepSpeier: Just sent a letter to @POTUS w/67 of my Democratic colleagues demanding Sec Acosta resign. It makes my skin crawl w… https://t.co/ta6VWDoOCL)
Sunday morning, I attended a breakfast hosted by the Essex–West Hudson Labor Council along with Assemblyman Tom Gibson, Governor Phil Murphy, and NJ State Chairman of the Amalgamated Transit Union Ray Greaves (pictured left to right in the first photo). https://t.co/D7hS8EQxMK
I was honored to present a certificate to Mr. Greaves (pictured second photo, on the right), and his colleagues for their hard-work in our communities.
