My favorite WW II souvenir is non ALSOS: a pass to Thaon. Ike sent the 7th Army loudspeaker equipment that my dad picked up at the Signal Corps depot. The 7th's Psychological Warfare people broadcast over the front lines of the 324th Infantry to a deaf German "stomach battalion".

The Germans were losing the Battle of the Bulge. Having drawn Allied troops northward, Germany attacked in the south, with Nordwind. The 7th Army told Ike that he wasn't taking the 7th Army seriously. Loudspeaker equipment was immediately shipped to Thaon https://t.co/plm49rBDAD QT @wysocki_fred: My favorite WW II souvenir is non ALSOS: a pass to Thaon. The Allies cracked Hitler's encrpytion, & relied upon it. Hitler didn't know, but didn't take chances. The Allies ignored regular intelligence, & got surprised by the Bulge. Now relying on normal intelligence, the Allies were super prepared for Nordwind. https://t.co/k7GcctDfi4 QT @wysocki_fred: The Germans were losing the Battle of the Bulge. Both Harry and Edward: flakos. Meghan seems to be well liked. Wallis Simpson wasn't. Thankfully Harry's brother William takes his responsibilities seriously. Henry VIII coped with women. Edward's real downfall was siding too much with Adolph Hitler. https://t.co/WeHGrG0gjE

The real story: Britain's Nazi King: https://t.co/nzXbRnBufk This references de-classified files, but Edward's pro-German stance was common knowledge for contemporaries. Again, the BBC distorts reality. Reality, what a concept! https://t.co/hpeOXaFXTg QT @wysocki_fred: Both Harry and Edward: flakos. Meghan seems to be well liked. Wallis Simpson wasn't. My father's functioning military unit was a detachment, typically 9 people. When the 7th Army came up from southern France, the detachment left 3rd Army to accompany the 44th Infantry Division. The 177th was not my father's unit; just an easy pass to get. https://t.co/ug2wGeVruy https://t.co/TDQsguja2n QT @wysocki_fred: The Allies cracked Hitler's encrpytion, & relied upon it. My dad was also one of the first Americans into Paris at its 1944 liberation. de Gaulle wanted the US to keep 2 divisions in Paris to suppress the French Communists. Instead, the US had a show of force parade. My father was in this very parade, commemorated by a US postage stamp. https://t.co/0WIFL5qpU4

"Is Paris Burning?" was a popular book when I was a teenager. My father said he was there, so I read the book. He didn't say anything worth remembering about Paris Per my brother, they told his group to get in a truck to go to a parade. Then they marched https://t.co/MSj5iVlHaY QT @wysocki_fred: My dad was also one of the first Americans into Paris at its 1944 liberation. de Gaulle wanted the US to keep 2 div… https://t.co/XMduHpTQhu)

I should have a joke like "first row, left". My brother quotes my father as saying that the Army rounded up all of their soldiers in the area to be in this parade. Tens of thousands. The French would have taken notes as to just who was in their city. https://t.co/MSj5iVlHaY QT @wysocki_fred: My dad was also one of the first Americans into Paris at its 1944 liberation. de Gaulle wanted the US to keep 2 div… https://t.co/XMduHpTQhu)

My father kept a souvenir of a small map he drew of part of Paris. This figures to get him from the river to a boarding house. I've got a hypothetical (60%?) role of his helping set up a specific civilian company to repair military radios. He apparently was in Paris for a while.

Two T-Force write ups of Paris electronics companies are slightly different, in a way that suggests something was newly happening at one of the companies, located across the river from one end of the map. The Signal Corps wanted civilians to repair radios. https://t.co/VQE7HoDxC6 QT @wysocki_fred: My father kept a souvenir of a small map he drew of part of Paris. Sam Lerner wrote the Popeye theme. (Royalties?) The photo may be a tongue in cheek salute to the man Popeye was based upon, so tough, that 5 teens tried to jump him. He knocked 3 of them out, and the other 2 ran away. Back to Wildwood for the the beginning of the 1945 season.
