My mother lived 5 miles away from the Univ of Chicago nuclear testing site. My dad shipped her (when?) WW II souvenirs from Germany, which could have confused the French. David Irving is one of the few people alive who has a deep understanding of ALSOS. People say he is a Holocaust denier. True or not, he's more non-PC than Trump. But you could probably make a movie just out of the obscure facts to be gleaned from picking his brain.

Pash sometimes demonstrably misnamed things, probably to clear censorship. David Irving sometimes botched details. Among the authors covering FDR/Churchill/de Gaulle, Irving is least generous of de Gaulle. de Gaulle had a big gap in his diaries for the important ALSOS days.

de Gaulle got into trouble for torturing people on British soil. He developed a work around. He would send his opponents back to occupied Europe, then tell the Germans where they were and why they should dislike them. At best, FDR believed de Gaulle had a Joan of Arc complex.
